Reviews - What do customers think about Learning To Invest (Principles For Abundant Livin)?
a financial book worth reading Jul 13, 2009
After reading the book, I find myself agreeing with the author on the importance of gaining a working knowledge of investing that will reap spiritual and practical contentment. Most people do not have enough understanding of the investment portfolio they currently hold, be it in 401s, IRas, or other forms. This book gives the very basics behind the talk and hype of the media. THis book would help anyone who needs to understand the basics of investing. It is easily understood, and makes no claims of how one whould invest. Instead, it emphasizes the idea that every investor should look to God for ultimate satsifaction,a nd invest with an eye to eternal issues. I would have enjoyed a few more real-world examples of success and failure to highlight the basic priciples, which would have given it a more up-to-date feel. As a primer on investing, the reader needs simple examples that show the inherent risks involved in any investment. Engaged couples, single young people with a long time horizon, and people who value handling their money according to Biblical standards cannot do better than this book.
Good basic building blocks in digestible chunks May 29, 2009
This book is a very good place to start for anyone who wants to take more control of their financial destiny by managing their money. It is a nice complement to his other two books that deal with the basics of general money management and living without debt. All three books are digestible and easy to read in just one or two sittings.
I liked the Learning to Invest book because it lays groundwork for understanding investing and explains concepts easily. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner I appreciate the ability to get these sometimes complex concepts across. It is definitely worth a read.
