Reviews - What do customers think about Spiritual Leadership (Repack)?
A Must Have Book! May 14, 2010
I am a bible college student and had to do a book review. Spiritual Leadership was an excellent read! Even better than I thought it would be. it's a great resource for anyone that has been called by God to be in a position of leadeship or even someone that is already in a leadership position and needs some spiritual "pointers" A must have. I'm going to recommend it to my Pastor and hopefully He'll make it a requirement for all the leaders!
Excellent book on leadership Apr 27, 2010
The book has sold more than half-a-million copies since it first appeared. "Spiritual Leadership", was first published in 1967 with several updates to the book. John MacArthur, Chuck Colson and John Maxwell all highly recommend it. I was expecting to read one of the best leadership books ever written and it is! The book is a fast read and filled with great references to additional information. I always read a book three times to capture the "whole" message and make notes. Sanders makes fantastic use of illustrations and quotations from other people (Christian and non-Christian and great military leaders). You will gain terrific insight from well-recognized world leaders. Sanders stresses the compelling need for honorable and principled leadership. Sanders emphasizes that spiritual leadership is a "calling" and that not all are called to this rewarding and fulfilling profession. I would suggest that you conduct your own research into the sources and citations used in this book to gain additional insight on great leaders.
The 2007 Edition Written by Moody Editors NOT J Oswald Sanders Mar 27, 2010
I was extremely disappointed to learn that this 2007 edition was so significantly edited by Moody.
The preface says it all. "Our purpose was to revise Spiritual Leadership for Christians living in the twenty-first century ... Perhaps Sanders meant his references to 'man', to 'men', to 'him' and to 'his' to mean all people without respect to gender. It was common in his era to use masculine pronouns as a generic reference to everybody. But perhaps he did not." The editors also made other changes to the point while reading the text one must wonder the original intent of the author.
I exchanged my copy for the 1994 edition which is the classic that Sanders actually wrote in the 1960's.
Best Biblical Leadership Training Ever! Feb 14, 2010
Anybody that leads in any capacity NEEDS to read this book. It is a classic that covers it all when it comes to leadership. Too much "Human Leadership" in the world and not enough "Spiritual Leadership". It is a real kick in the pants for leaders.
Pearls of Wisdom Feb 6, 2010
This book contains great reminders and practical tidbits to encourage you to keep nurturing your spiritual life, especially if you're a leader. The book is full of stories of Christians of the past and how they kept up their spiritual disciplines.
