Learning From the Lizard Jun 24, 2006
Purposeful living; joy in the beautiful; artful love; profound wisdom; thankfulness in God's creation---all are found in this delightful rendition about animals in our Bible. The author, Samuel J. Hahn, assigns each a place in scripture, as the animal is exemplified in a lesson or teaching which concludes with prayer. Each of the 25 animals is illustrated with sensitivity and detail by Scott Patton. This delightful book appplies to any age---child, youth and adult. As a study resource or complement to a church school class, it is as reliable as it is enjoyable.

This book is very useful when planning lessons or devotions for Sunday School or Bible School on animals and birds. It gives examples of many, where they are referred to in the Bible, and what lessons can be learned from them. Each also includes a closing prayer. A very enjoyable and informational book.
Lessons From All Creatures Great and Small Feb 5, 2003
To be honest I was excited to read this book, first and foremost because the illustrator is one of my friends. I was excited to see Scott's illustrations, they are realistic and you wait for them to come to life while you are looking at them. Samuel utilizes his writing talents to teach such Biblical lessons as wisdom, diligence, love, beauty, provision and faithfulness from all of God's creatures great and small. Each chapter begins with an animal as the subject, a scriptural reference is given for the basis of the lesson, then a lesson about the animal is given, along with the animals correlation in the Bible, there is a lesson summary, then a prayer which follows to close the chapter. Our family has used this book for family devotions. Our toddler loves looking at the illustrations and learning about the animals. This would make a great additon to any family or church libary!
