Item description for Abingdon New Testament Commentary - Galatians (Abingdon New Testament Commentaries) by Sam K. Williams...
Overview From the Publisher:" Abingdon New Testament Commentary Series Galatians by Sam K. Williams This commentary for students of theology includes introduction, commentary, annotated bibliography, and selective index. The New Revised Standard Version is the principal translation.
This informative and engaging commentary invites modern readers to "overhear" Paul's letter as if they were present in one of the Galatian house-churches where it was being read for the first time. By setting aside the theological baggage of the centuries that burdens many other interpretations of Galatians, Williams allows the Apostle's own provocative thought to be encountered freshly and appreciated anew in its own terms.

Reviews - What do customers think about Abingdon New Testament Commentary - Galatians (Abingdon New Testament Commentaries)?
Balanced outlook and commentary on Galatians Aug 18, 1998
Sam Williams' commentary on Galatians is both scholarly and understandable. He presents a balanced view throughout: stating the different scholarly points of view on interpretation of certain verses, and clearly explaining the rationale for his opinion on such matters. His writing style makes it possible for lay people to read and understand his book - and in the process to expand their understanding of Paul's letter to the Galatians. The end result is a clear focus on what caused Paul to write the letter to the Galatians, and how we can apply Paul's writings to our late-2oth century experience as christians. An excellent resource for any Bible study leader or participant.
