A simple, straightforward plan for teaching your child Jun 30, 2007
It seems like the most effective ways to teach children are often the most easy to overlook. This wonderful book shows parents and teachers how to utilize simple, low-cost means to give their young children a strong start in learning.
This book has been most helpful in our homeschooling adventure and was key in pulling this over-achieving, by-the-book teaching mother away from the need to keep to a rigid schedule and actually enjoy teaching and learning with my children.
Big Things, Little Package Jun 27, 2007
This book is a well written, easy to use guide. It includes a handy phonics chart, and a math chart on the reverse side. You certainly get a lot of bang for your buck. The only downside, is that you need to have some familiarity with phonetic sounds, (i.e. the actual sound) that the dipthongs, digraphs, phonograms, etc. make. Otherwise, this book is spectacular.
Fundamental Homeschooling Book Apr 21, 2007
This is one of the fundamental homeschooling books -- useful for parents of children up to about age 8.
Happy homeschooler Jul 17, 2006
This book completely demystified teaching my son the three R's, and at such an affordable price. Before I read these, I was still concerned that I wouldn't do as good of a job as a trained educator -- but this really breaks it down and even makes it fun for my son. Each chapter had several helpful activities that helped hone my son's skills without worksheets and without having to buy extra stuff from a specialty store. I look forward to using it on my daughter this year. I'm buying my fourth set, since I keep loaning out my copies and never get them back! It's an economical, encouraging, practical resource for teaching K-3.
It worked for us! Jul 2, 2006
After reading many recommendations regarding these three book(lets) I purchased them and have been very pleased. My daughter quickly picked up reading using Beechick's approach alone and I've loved implementing her composition ideas. Not only have I been happy to gain Beechick's perspective on early instruction in the three R's, but - especially in reading - have seen it work wonderfully. Beechick makes it all simple.... thankfully! I recommend these books to all my friends delving into homeschooling.
