Item description for Avenues of Spiritual Consciousness by Roger Freeman...
A fresh water spring flowing during high tide is the source available to Raven Janamanchias sheep. Upon her drinking from it, she perceives an unmistakable Spiritual uplift. Ravenas discovery on this remote Maine island opens a new vista. Her rapturous delight is severely challenged beginning with the unexpected arrival of Basil Porter, a previously embedded CIA operative. Porter has been outed, his secret mission and dossier having been revealed. The couple spread their message of Spiritual Enlightenment when they ship out to worldwide destinations aboard the Oki Ryku, a converted freighter turned medical clinic. A typhoon maroons them on Henderson Island in the South Pacific where they meet Mother Meleana, its lone resident. They believe her to be a wraith. She leads them in her wisdom and invites them to partake of a fresh water Spiritual Source springing up from the sea. Together they confirm their long-held belief that the springs are the Spiritual Grail. Their island sojourn confirms that Mother Meleana is the incarnation of the Spirit. Avenues of Spiritual Consciousness is a ameat and potatoesa book with challenging social and religious dialogue among the characters. It unashamedly demonstrates the bad and the beautiful.

Magnificent Jan 5, 2008
Hats off to writer Roger Freeman, the story content of this book was incredible. What a marvelous journey into intrigue, espionage and spiritual finding. My weekend goals were abeyance until the final chapter. It is a hypnotic escalator of evolution into the search for spirituality, filled with tasteful sexual desire, murder and loss. This book has all of the makings of a great Hollywood movie. Do not hesitate to order and read the works of Roger Freeman.
A Delightful Surprise Oct 14, 2007
Roger Freeman's book has all of the ingredients of an Indiana Jones movie with a little pinch or Stephen King and Shirley McClaine thrown into the mix. The author offers up insight into an underground world that is both exciting and unnerving, made palatable by an unfolding insight within the characters to the connectivity and basic decency that indwells all people, even those who appear to be the most depraved. Enjoy a taste of history, politics, espionage, social injustice, sex, violence and mysticism, plus a sizeable helping of hope to season it all. I found this book compelling and ultimately very satisfying. There is depth to the text that brings its spiritual message back to mind, again and again. Note: For those of a gentle nature, some of the scenes of sex and violence, although never gratuitous, are a little rough.
Avenues of Spiritual Consciousness Oct 12, 2007
I found this unusual title, Avenues of Spiritual Consciousness, to be much more than an ordinary book. It is an adventursome book in which the bad and the beautiful are unashamedly revealed. The heroine, the devout Raven Janamanchi spots Basil Porter, an outed CIA agent while tending her sheep on a remote Maine island. After sharing his shocking nighttime epiphany they find what they believe to be the true meaning of the Grail, a source of renewal of mans bliss. Let me tell you, I couldn't put it down. The author brings the powers of raw evil head to head with Raven's dynamic beliefs. The short chapters carry the story along very well. The couple face a typhoon off Henderson Island in the Pacific where their medical service ship, the Oki Maru, is in great jeopardy. They face hostile and grisly encounters from the existing cultures of today, both religious and political. It is a wonderful Spiritual adventure. You won't be disappointed. Pamela M.
