Item description for The Cradle of Faith by Rodney R. Pittman...
The Cradle of Faith Tarra, a young African America female, is visited in her dreams by prominent women from the past. These are well-known historical women, who guide her into womanhood by questioning her identity. The night of her high school prom, she's sexually assaulted by her mother's boyfriend. Her mother, Winnie, accuses Tarra of leading him on, of backstabbing her, and throws her out of her life. Willie, Winnie and Brenda's older brother, promises to give Winnie a house bequeathed to him in their parents will, if she could make genuine amends with her daughter. To get the house, she instigates conflicts and plants false evidence. For the longtime sibling rivalry, and her issues with insecurity, she attempts to destroy her sisters perfect marriage. Her boyfriend, Juicy, escapes from the Boston Police to get revenge on her. She exaggerates being brutally attacked by him, to get her daughter to feel sympathy for her. Tarra realizes in the end, that in order to begin a promising future, she had to start a new life without her mother. She maintained her faith in Jesus Christ, and her Cradle of Faith never tipped over.
