More About Robin Jones Gunn
When Robin Jones Gunn was in first grade her teacher wrote on her report card, “Robin keeps the entire class entertained at rug time with her stories.”
Even with such an early affirmation, Robin didn’t seriously consider becoming a writer during high school or college. She was more intrigued by the idea of traveling to foreign lands and telling people about God’s love.
But Robin’s husband also noticed her gift for story-telling and urged her to attend a writers’ conference. That first conference opened the door for publication of devotions, articles, interviews and eventually 15 children’s books.
While on a camping trip with their church youth group, Robin grew concerned when she saw what the girls were reading in their tent. The 13 year-old girls challenged her, saying, “If you don’t want us to read these books then you should write novels for us. We’ll even tell you what to write. How hard could that be?”
Early Mornings in Robin’s Nest
For over two years Robin carved out time to write by getting up at 3am, three days a week. Each week she would read the finished pages to the girls in the youth group and they would send her home to write and rewrite some more. After ten rejections Robin’s first novel was accepted for publication and released in 1988. More books followed and soon the Christy Miller series was joined by the Sierra Jensen series, the College Years and the Katie Weldon series. Thousands of readers have contacted Robin over the years to let her know how these stories changed their life.
Robin continued exploring other avenues of storytelling with gentle romances in the Glenbrooke series, women’s friendships in the Sisterchicks® series and family relationships in five women’s novels and two Father Christmas novellas.
Stories Travel the Globe
Over the past 25 years Robin has written 82 books with almost 4.5 million copies sold worldwide. To her great delight, Robin’s books are doing exactly what she always hoped to do – they are traveling around the world and telling people about God’s love. She is doing the same. Over the past ten years Robin has been invited to speak at events around the US and Canada as well as in South America, Africa, Europe and Australia.
Robin and her husband have two grown children and have been married for 35 years. They live in Hawai’i where she continues to write and speak in rhythm with her life verse:
“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the LORD Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” Acts 20:24.
Robin Jones Gunn currently resides in Portland, in the state of Oregon. Robin Jones Gunn was born in 1955.

Reviews - What do customers think about Secrets (Glenbrooke)?
Secrets Oct 6, 2008
It is evident that Robin Jones Gunn is use to writing for adolescents. This book is a small step up toward storytelling for adults. For the first half of the story mysterious innuendoes are substituted for intrigue, it lacks believability and the characters are ill-defined and inconsistent. Then, it seems that Robin's gift for bringing the reader into the world of the characters begins to surface and her ability to bring her characters to life emerges. Before book's end, I was ready to read the second in the series. I was and am a huge Robin Jones Gunn fan.
Awesome series! Jun 4, 2007
Robin Jones Gunn is such a talented writer! She takes you to places you've dreamed of going and after reading you feel like you have been there. Every chacter experiences feelings that almost every woman can relate to. She is my favorite christian fiction writer. I hope she continues writing. I love the whole Glenbrooke Series. The series takes you to Hawaii, TN, CA, OR, WA....but each one is linked to Glenbrooke...a town you kind of wish you could visit or even live there...of course its seems like you do when you are reading the series. I just finished book 7 of the 8. I almost hate to finish the last one....I want there to be a number 9 and continue on. The Glenbrooke series has romance and friendships that intertwine in each book. Gardinias for Breakfast is awesome too as well as the Sisterchicks books.

Amazing Beginning of the Series Dec 2, 2005
After a spontanious idea of picking up this random book at the library, I sat in my mother's car heading to an out-of-city thanksgiving dinner. Stationed in the back of the car, the overhead light provided the ability to read on this adventure. At 5 o'clock, I picked up this book called Secrets. I began the cutest love story. Meet Jessica, a single, stranger to the town of Glenbrooke, Oregon. She ends up in a wreck right outside the town. She is rescued by handsome volunteer fire-fighter Kyle Buchanan. After series of events, she finds herself wrapped up in her new school as a High School English Teacher. When Kyle comes to falling head over heels with her, she turns him away and is criticized of her assumed relationship with him by a jealous principal, Charlotte. They end up on a mission trip together in Mexico and she finds her way back to Christ. After her truck breaking down, she is robbed without the robbers knowing she's in the car, hiding in the floorboard. When Kyle finds her, all her emotions let loose and she ends up spilling almost the whole story that has been hidden since she left California to Glennbrooke. All she had been hiding, gone in a matter of minutes. They fall in love, and of course, almost every novel ends with: The promise of an upcoming wedding. But, don't worry, the ending will either have you in tears, or reliving your own love story. So, five stars Mrs. Gunn! Your masterpiece is a keeper.
