Family friendly Nov 13, 2006
Great book to reach out to kids. These days it is getting hard to find wholesome family friendly comics and graphic novels. Thank you Robert for having the strength to break through the mainstream comic market of gore and sex!!

Entertaining adaptation from the bestselling book around! Nov 9, 2006
Forensic archaeologist, Terry Harper is known to TV audiences around the world as "The Bone Man". He has managed to take the tedious science of archaeology and bring it into the mainstream culture of America, much to the disdain of some of his colleagues. That may be all for naught as the story opens with him and a friend being caught in a suicide bomb attack in Israel. As he fights for his life he begins a journey of spiritual awakening and historical discovery on another plane. His guide shows his the historical scenes from biblical times - from the Resurrection on Easter Sunday to the conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus. Make no mistake; this is the retelling of the Gospel as well as the Acts of the Apostles. That story is intertwined with one of modern political intrigue.
Whether you are already familiar with the story of the early days of the Church or just looking for an interesting story you will find this graphic novel compelling. The art is very strong in both line and color. There is an interesting contrast between the people, setting and action taking place in the first century AD and the same things in the present. While the bible stories we are familiar with take up most of the pages, the modern segment is a gripping one that holds our interest right to the last page. It is a great way to get the story of the bible told in a way that makes full use of the modern graphic storytelling methods. These are stories of passion, sacrifice and bravery against overwhelming odds. There are some things that happen that in this day we would say are amazing as well. The adaptation does them justice.
The modern day story ties this together with the first volume, EYEWITNESS: A Fictional Tale of Absolute Truth, as part of a trilogy. It will be interesting to see how far they move forward in the last volume of the trilogy, in fact, if it goes all the way to the Book of the Revelation of Saint John there are some interesting ways to blend in the present day story. It may even be the reason that Terry Harper is being shown all he is being shown - to prepare him for what is to come.
There is something here for everyone. This is not something trying to convert you but to entertain you. The stories stand up, as they have for centuries. The talents of the creators make it very readable for everyone to enjoy.
Unique, entertaining, imaginative Oct 7, 2006
After completing a consulting assignment with the Israeli Ministry of Antiquities in Jerusalem, archaeologist Terry Harper finds himself and his colleague a victim of bombing. Whether the target was the Jewish state in general, or Dr. Harper in particular, is not clear. As Dr. Harpers struggles for his very life in the intensive care unit of an Israeli hospital, he finds himself lapsing into unconsciousness and embarked upon a journey of historical discover and spiritual awakening to the birth of the Christian faith after the resurrection of Jesus. The language of the apostles, the jews and the romans in ancient Jerusalem is presented in a contemporary American vernacular. The story of the apostles (especially the conversion of Paul) is told with lively interest. The modern day plot of attempted assassination is equally interest with its twists, turns, and unexpected developments. "Eye Witness: Acts Of The Spirit" is a unique, entertaining, imaginative, and very highly recommended graphic novel for readers of all ages by Robert James Luedke with the help of colorists Carsten Bradley, Robert Luedke, and Tommy Castillo.

Luedke takes the reader from the moment the stone was rolled away through Paul's rebirth on the road to Damascus. The story is true but written as work of fiction. Robert James Luedke presents the gospel in a unique manner. He draws on his skills as a cartoonist to tell the story of the resurrection. His talent will entice children and youth to read where they may have resisted previously.
This story is moving and told through a different perspective. The illustrations are beautifully done and will appeal to children and youth. The content is a beautiful way to illustrate the love of Christ for each of us. Luedke explains how "Jesus' death should be looked at as a joyous event, rather than a tragedy!"
While this book was written to entice children to the true story of Christ Jesus it made an impression on this reader also. It was a pleasure to read this book. I am eager to delve into the first and last books of this series. Mr. Luedke's faith shows throughout this piece of "art". We owe him a debt of gratitude for allowing it to show. It is with great pleasure that I highly recommend this book to parents that want their children to discover the true story of the resurrection.
