Item description for Studies in the Atonement by Robert Morey...
Overview Morey's treatment of the doctrine of justification is much needed today. He demonstrates the forensic or judicial nature of justification with clear scriptural proof, listing over twenty references illustrating the forensic nature of justification. This book reveals why the human race needs to be justified and how justification is the backbone of the Gospel. Studies in the Atonement shows how a Holy God is able to be just and yet justify sinners at the same time. The biblical meaning of the word "justification" is demonstrated step-by-step: its ground, its means and its effect. There are many helpful charts found in the book which clarify and illustrate different aspects of the atonement. They are great teaching aids which any pastor or Sunday School teacher can use to great effect. The inclusion of prayers and hymns makes reading this book an exercise in worship. It touches the heart as well as exercises the mind.

The best book on the Atonement you'll ever buy! Jan 1, 2008
In an age when new views on the atonement seem to emerge from person to person, Dr. Morey looks to Scripture for the truth. Leaving no stone unturned, Studies in the Atonement explores the work of Jesus on the cross from multiple angles. Using Scripture as the final authority, Morey freely discusses the multi-dimensional aspects of the atonement with his reader. Rather than simply repeating others in the past, Dr. Morey takes daring and exciting approaches to dissecting the subject. The outcome of the studies reaffirm many of the historic, Reformed theologians' works of the past, yet adds significant improvement and fresh philosophical perspectives that explode onto the scene for the first time. Recognizing the postmodern philosophical turn to relationality, Dr. Morey discovers a ground-breaking alternative to an age-old theological predicament: the Ordo Salutis. By abandoning the one-dimensional modernist view and the pagan philosophic either/or dichotomy, Dr. Morey suggests a fresh perspective in studying the order of the application of the elements of salvation. The discovery illuminates the interrelationships of elements that previously had little or no theological relations up until now. This section (Ch. 8) is worth the price of the book alone!
