More About Rob Smith
I currently live and write from Ohio's north coast. My hobbies include sailing and refurbishing an 1850's house which was built by a ship's carpenter turned lighthouse keeper.
My poetry book, "256 Zones of Gray," was published after I was given the 2006 Robert Frost Poetry Award. Some have described me as a "nature poet," but I think that I try to find awareness in all the things around me.
The protagonist of my "McGowan" novels is a Presbyterian minister, Davis McGowan. In the course of his ministry he sees and experiences things that create enough suspense to categorize the books in that genre. While pastoral situations are a part of the story, the books are not aimed specifically at the church-going public. Often, they present a realism that surprises the reader who only has a stereotyped understanding of faith communities. The realism of McGowan is drawn from my own experience of nearly forty years as a pastor and university instructor.
