If you are a right super Christian homophobic loon you might enjoy this book. Ever wonder why Houston, Texas has the highest kiddie birthrate in the USA? It is thanks in part to super Christian nuts like this. Enough is Enough
A Must Read for ALL Christians Sep 8, 2008
I've had the privilege of meeting Rick Scarborough and hearing him speak several times. He's a dynamic speaker, with the kind of passion I love. His book Enough is Enough explains perfectly, in simple language, what is happening in our country. Mr. Scarborough is an Evangelical, and he explains how this nation has drifted so far from our moral roots. It's a call to action! Please buy and read this book!

Ric's book is an example of what effect Christians should have on their community if they are effectively marshalled and co ordianted by a leader. This is what Christianity should produce everywhere; unfortunately it is not. An excellent book.

My father-in-law, a Baptist preacher, gave me this book to read because he thinks it proves beyond a doubt of the Christian heritage of this country. But, it doesn't prove it. The author uses quotes from American colonists about Christianity to prove his point. I could find quotes and documents signed or written by the same colonists that would prove that this country is not a Christian nation. For example, John Adams signed the Treaty of Tripoli that stated this is not a Christian nation. Madison's Federalist 10 is a warning of religious factions becoming too powerful. These are two founders that the author quotes. I do not say this to minimize the role religion played in the founding of this country, but the author, like many Christians, overemphasizes this point. I personally believe that the truth is somewhere between the two extreme views.
The book is poorly researched as it uses four previous books as its basis. If you are going to make historical claims about this country, why not go back to the history itself rather than quoting books that agree with the author's view. I guess because the author would then come to a different conclusion.
The book also makes ludicrous claims without backing up those claims with evidence. The author excoriates a school speaker on AIDS for bad statistics. Yet, the author spouts off statistics and claims without any indication of where the information originated. I guess we are supposed to accept his claims because he is a preacher. In my mind, that only makes him more suspect.
Conspicuously absent from the book is a discussion of the Constitution. The fact that the Constitution limits religion is something the author ignores, and for good reason. It would blow his thesis out of the water. The Constitution doesn't mention God, doesn't allow a religious test to be implemented for citizens to hold office, and limits the establishment of religion by the government. These are important facts that are simply ignored.
Overall, I think the book is poorly written and undocumented. It isn't worth your time. It gives a biased view of history at best, and is totally deceptive and destructive to our governmental system, at worst.
