Reviews - What do customers think about Stealth Empire?
Bouncy Jan 2, 2008
This book kept me on my toes, it really bounces around and you really have to follow it closely or reread some of the pages like I did. I think it would have been a better book if there was more substance to the characters and less bouncing. I was disappointed in the ending, there isn't one, must be another book coming from what I can put together. If you live in the world of finance, love wine or interested in either subject then this book is for you. I will be looking for book two if there is one coming....
Pedestrian Oct 20, 2007
Pedestrian writing style; thin plot; one dimensional characters; much too much wine, food, restaurants and hotels; too many murders; many buzzwords about world finance, but does not convey enough rudimentary understanding of it, even for a fiction novel.
The next Tom Clancy ... but with great legs. Sep 23, 2007
This book is as good as any of the Tom Clancy books that I have read. Through the use of an immersive plot Caras manages to blend smoothly together the worlds of high finance, vintage wines, high tech weaponry and beautiful yet vulnerable/deadly women. In each case he makes the sophisticated accessible. A fine book with great legs and a strong finish. This could, perhaps, be the beginning of another dynasty.
AN ATTENTION GRABBER Sep 2, 2007
This book grabs your attention in the very beginning and never lets go.The plot is sinister; our financial institutions need better oversight. I can't wait for the author's next book.
An absolutely great start Aug 23, 2007
While Cam Paegen and Marki Wilson aren't quite yet the dynamic duo of Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino, they are wonderful new additions to the genre that originated with the master of them all, "007." New author Rick Caras' first novel is just a great start in creating what can become a new franchise in the imaginary battle between good and evil. When you follow Cam and Marki as they discover the Stealth Empire, you travel into the high stakes world of high finance, and get an unexpected look into the world of fine wines. I simply can't wait to see where Mr. Caras decides to take his heroes in his next book, which I expect will be the start of a long journey with Cam and Marki. I also have some more to add, but I won't do it because it will spoil the ending. All I'll say is that Rick Caras has some great clay to work with in his follow-up ... and that if you like summer-read adventures, you can't go wrong with this one.
