Preparing workers for short-and long-term mission service Richard Lawson is a retired pastor, having served twenty-four years in three churches in the Rocky Mountains and sixteen years as director of an international student program in Seattle. He has served on many short-term mission assignments around the world, teaching English and French and Bible studies, working on construction sites, working on medical teams and in refugee work, and preaching. In all he has traveled to more than fifty nations and is fluent in five foreign languages. He has always had a heart for foreign missions and especially for the "small churches" that are often neglected in church planning for mission. Dic is married to Phyllis, and together they have served in refugee ministry and pastoral assignments, hosting many international students at home and in refugee sponsorship. The Lawsons have four children-Charlotte, Rich, Marie, and Paul-and five grandchildren. Dic has published articles in severalmagazines and newspapers and served in preaching and teaching assignments and work in ethnic ministry in the Rockies and Seattle through his denomination.
