Reviews - What do customers think about Get On Up With Java?

Picking's book is a good choice for a Java newcomer. The concepts of any programming language are well explained. For loops. If-then constructs. Etc. Plus, object oriented coding is shown as an easy to grasp idea. The choice of Java to explain this is probably easier than C++. The simpler syntax of Java makes it quicker for the reader to understand and to start simple OO programming.
Also, getting to the point of writing small graphics programs is quite easy in Java. Where the graphics are an integral part of the language. Unlike C++. For new students, this helps build confidence and experience.
