What the Bible Says About Healthy Living Mar 8, 2007
This book is one of the best books I have purchased concerning diet and healthy living. I was expecting a book that I most likely would have to sift thru to get a few important facts from. Instead, I discovered a very well written and documented book full of useful facts. The author has medical back ground and references information from medical studies and science. Love this book and hope many more read it. I have always believed that eating whole foods was best for me. Now I have more information too support my beliefs.
Easy read. Best overview of Eating Healthy! Jan 10, 2007
I've read a lot of health books from supplementation to eating raw but this is my favorite. This book is the 1st book I recommend all my clients to read. The information is very basic, accurate and in a simple format. The book is not product based but health based which gives a wonderful foundation to those wanting information to consider when desiring a lifestyle change based on knowledge and conviction. A must have in any library!! A wonderful gift too.
Healthy Living in Balance Jan 9, 2007
This is one of the best books I have read that truely outlines a balanced, sensible, life time approach to healthy living and eating. The author does a great job explaining the Biblical God given reasons for certain practices in the Bible and making it relevant to us today. It's NOT a fade diet approach that has long-term negative side affects, it is much deeper and much better than that. Truely worth reading and absorbing.
Updated version no different than original! Jan 4, 2007
I'm giving this book 5 stars because it is a good book. However if you already have the original version, do not run out and buy this book or purchase it as "better together" with the original edition. You only need one version because they are exactly the SAME! Otherwise the book is a wonderful addition to a healthy living library.
Real wisdom for better health through healthy foods Jun 10, 2005
Russell shares his experience and medical knowledge with insight, and especially important for convincing the skeptics, the background information on WHY foods help or hinder our bodies.
Listed are grains and legumes, and the vital nutrients contained in them. Listed are meats/seafood that are declared clean and unclean in the Bible, and more helpfully, the understanding of why they would be unhealthy back then and now.
The understanding and knowledge was very helpful in changing my mind about my diet. My mom always tried to get me to eat gross bread, for instance, because it was healthier. I didn't want anything to do with it. Now I am motivated to find enjoyable ways to eat healthy grains, more beans, and reduce animal fat in my diet because of God's plan for health.
Another aspect of the book is the testimonies included about adults and children recovering from ailments after changes in diet. Russell mentions many different types of ailments that doctors generally don't know what to do about, and how reducing processed sugars/flours and adding fiber through fruits and vegetables greatly helped people.
My wife's response as we read some of the book together was, "Why doesn't everybody know this?" Indeed, if we all wanted healthy bodies, we would change our eating habits, but, we've known that for a long time. This book teaches the HOW of healthy eating.
