Reviews - What do customers think about The NCV Audio Bible (A Vivid Presentation of the Word of God)?
Great for travel Oct 4, 2008
My husband and I got this before taking a really long trip. We got to listen to most of the old testament. The reader is really great. My husband didn't like that the tracks kept repeating, so if you're listening to it straight through, it might get a little old. But I thought that the reader made up for it.
ncv audio bible Aug 1, 2008
I like the NCV very much. I always read it with my NASB open beside it. The audio voice is very good and at a good rate of speed. Now the negatives. The obnoxious drum type beat in the background is very distracting. The term words "contemporary" and "music" do not belong in the same sentence. This would be a great audio if it didn't have the background distractions.
Great Voice, Terrible Music Jul 27, 2008
I absolutely love listen to this version and the voice. It made me fall in love with the Bible! Unforutunately, it also gave me a pounding headache and to my children as well. They music is repetitive syncopaded stuff that drives you crazy! I am desperately hoping that somebody will come out with NCV Voice only!
The Best Audio Bible I've Listened To Jul 22, 2006
I've heard NIV and God's Word Translation bibles narrated by Stephen Johnston and they don't measure up to this one. While I love the GWT, the NCV (2005 revision) is a solid translation as well, and is especially good for reading aloud. Ronnie Meek, the narrator, doesn't speak too fast and he actually puts life into his reading. Stephen Johnston (and some others) often read too fast and their narrations can be kind of dry. David Payne's HCSB audio edition is good too, but it still falls behind this one. Max McLean's ESV is OK but overdone in places. This NCV edition has original music that I find enhances the experience of hearing the Bible. I definitely recommend making the investment in this... if you absorb information by hearing, this will help you experience the Bible like no other product I've found. It's quite captivating.
Great narration overall Jun 22, 2006
I really do like Rev. Meek's narration of the NCV, and I do like the fact that his narration is slower than most I've heard. I also enjoy his book introductions, especially the one for The Psalms, where he introduces them as "Israel's Top 150 Greatest Hits" (hee hee!!! 8>). For anyone who likes the NCV, it's a great item to own.
The only real con I had with this is one I've had with other audio Bibles---THE MUSIC. Now, music isn't always a bad thing, but I often found myself distracted from the narration because of the music. I would also have liked to hear less repetition of the music.
But, all around, the narration is quite good, and I am glad I own the set. Good job, Rev. Meek!
