Item description for A House Waiting for Music by David Hernandez...
After winning the 2002 Tupelo Chapbook award presented by judge Ray Gonzalez, a full-length version of David Hernandez's imaginative, heartfelt work became inevitable. A new voice that's loud, lucid and impossible to ignore.
"A House Waiting for Music has enough verbal Hip-hop to get the cops called. Listen up!"-Kim Addonizio

Reviews - What do customers think about A House Waiting for Music?
Caution: Thought Provoking Poetry, Misleading Cover Dec 13, 2003
This review is a warning-if indeed it is a warning and not a recommendation-because of the title of the book. Though certainly appropriate for the collection at several levels, it is misleading. As is the cover-a floating piano, tumbling bowler hats a la The Brown Derby, and lace. Yes, wistful memories are evident in this collection, but a book of poetry full of whimsy, let alone a book of musical poetry that recalls a Victorian evening at home, this definitely is not. This is a house waiting for music. Important words, those. WAITING FOR. Readers searching for thought provoking poetry with some grit and grime thrown into a mix of memories, will enjoy this book. Indeed she might find this an important new voice in the world of poetry. However, a reader shouldn't buy it for its lyrical quality.
