Item description for Are You Following Jesus or Just Fooling Around?! by Ray Cummings...
Overview What other noted ministers are saying about this book: "With no apologies, Ray Cummings calls today's Christians on the carpet for the thoughtless compromises that creep into daily life and soil the Savior's witness. Read through the work and you will find it reading you." Dr. Harry L. Lucenay -Writer/Conference Speaker/Former Pastor of First Baptist Church -San Antonio, TX. "Dr. Cummings cuts to the heart of the matter. . . . If you are serious about growing in your faith . . . read and learn from Dr. Cummings' insight and experience." Dr. Ryan F. Whitley -Pastor of First Baptist Church of Center Point -Birmingham, AL. In Are You Following Jesus or Just Fooling Around? author Ray Cummings has chosen some oxymorons through which God has challenged him in his own personal walk with the Lord. Dr. Cummings focuses each chapter on spiritual evaluations that may help determine whether or not we are truly following Jesus. At the close of each chapter, the character of Christ is contrasted with the actions of many Christians. The goal of this work is that when readers view their inconsistencies in light of God's unchanging character, they would have a greater desire to be "imitators of Christ" (Ephesians 5:1). May God allow you to be honest with yourself as you personalize this book by seeking to answer the question: "Am I Following Jesus or Just Fooling Around?"

More About Ray Cummings
Analog Science Fiction and Fact is an American science fiction magazine. As of 2013, it is the longest running continuously published magazine of that genre. Initially published in 1930 in the United States as Astounding Stories as a pulp magazine, it has undergone several name changes, primarily to Astounding Science-Fiction in 1938, and Analog Science Fact & Fiction in 1960. In November 1992, its logo changed to use the term "Fiction and Fact" rather than "Fact & Fiction." It is in the library of the International Space Station. Spanning three incarnations since 1930, this is perhaps the most influential magazine in the history of the genre. It remains a fixture of the genre today. As Astounding Science-Fiction, a new direction for both the magazine and the genre under editor John W. Campbell was established. His editorship influenced the careers of Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein, and also introduced the Dianetics theories of L. Ron Hubbard in May 1950.Analog frequently publishes new authors, including then-newcomers such as Orson Scott Card and Joe Haldeman in the 1970s, Harry Turtledove, Timothy Zahn, Greg Bear, and Joseph H. Delaney in the 1980s, and Paul Levinson, Michael A. Burstein, and Rajnar Vajra in the 1990s. One of the major publications of what fans and historians call the Golden Age of Science Fiction and afterward, it has published much-reprinted work by such major SF authors as E.E. Smith, Theodore Sturgeon, Harlan Ellison, Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, A. E. van Vogt, Lester del Rey, HP Lovecraft and many others. This is an excerpt from the article Astounding Stories of Super Science from the Wikipedia free encyclopedia.

mirror, mirror on the wall Apr 11, 2003
There aren't many people in this world who consider any criticism "constructive." Most "suggestions" offered by others, although spoken in "truth and love" more times than not, result in an immediate wall of defense being constructed. This book, however, while not purposely written to point out anyone's personal flaws, is certainly a perfect tool for self reflection. While reading this book, time after time, I saw pieces of myself (pieces that definately need attention) written so plainly. And what was so effective, and greatly appreciated, is that each characteristic described was followed by instructions of not just "why," but "how" to overcome these areas of weakness. And get this, here's a new one, these instructions were not the author's opinion; rather, they were from God's Holy Word. No doubt this author did his homework-and this reader was fed. Certainly, after such a wonderful "meal" consisting of all the food groups (love, kindness, forgiveness, patience, faith, humility, etc.) this reader will grow stronger and wiser in her walk. And I feel confident in saying this will be the result for anyone who is smart enough and blessed enough to read this book. Kudos to Dr. Cummings for his courage to and thoroughness in speaking the truth. I beleve all christians need to hear it and will benefit greatly from it. I'm looking forward to any "sequels" that I hope will follow. ARB
