Item description for The Human Central Nervous System by Rudolf Nieuwenhuys, Jan Voogd & Christiaan Van Huijzen...
This book has become a classic in its field. The outstanding illustrative material still represents its main feature: 375 halftones and line drawings comprise a complete and convenient atlas for the interpretation of neuroimaging studies. Yet the text of this fourth edition has been thoroughly revised and expanded. Fifteen newly written chapters introduce illustrations of the gross anatomy, the blood supply and the microstructure of the central nervous system and deal with the development, topography and functional anatomy of the spinal cord, brain stem and cerebellum, diencephalons and telencephalon. This new edition provides a clear and reliable guide to the structural and functional organization of the human central nervous system and its broad basis in descriptive and experimental neuroscience. Intended primarily for students of medicine and psychology at all levels, the book is also informative reading for practicing neurobiologists.

It's back! Mar 25, 2008
This one had been difficult to get hold of for a whle and was also slightly in need of an update. However the authors have done a splendid job at re-working this classic book on neuroanatomy, It is absolutely indispensable to understand the organization of the CNS. It has been expanded and it is not too expensive.

in a simple way, a milestone in neuroanatomy. Not only for the accurate decriptions, but especially for the beautiful pictures.
The best book on Neuroanatomy Dec 29, 2002
This book has been written by two Dutch Neurologists and the illustrator. The content of the written text is absolutely phenomenal. It is clear, to the point and most of the times gives a clear explanation on "how the brain works". The illustrations are, in my modest opinion, as clear as the ones drawn by Netter (believe me). This is an excellent book for any medical student interested in Neuroanatomy, any Neurosurgeon and Neurologist (in-training) studying for his/her boards. I highly recommend it.
Best Neuroanatomy book ever ! Jun 6, 2000
Prepared my very own neuroanatomy exam with this book and passed with an A +. Precise, concise and always quoting the latest research.
