Reviews - What do customers think about The Route: The Forgotten Side Of Vieques?
Vieques Island people lifestyle Jul 2, 2004
This book is firstly dedicated to President Bill Clinton as a tribute for his decision to preserve for this planet a jewel on the Caribbean (Vieques Island USA). The United States did not lose Vieques as Mr Rumsfeld said. On the contrary, the United States kept Vieques as a safe place for a 100% of its population comprised of very proud american citizens.
A very interesting book for you to read. Meet the ancient people of Vieques Island, the areas where they lived, their customs and humorous incidents. Read about history, legends, close encounters, crimes, rural rustic lifestyle, love stories, war stories, kids games, unsolved mistery, ghosts, spirits ...
Have fun reading the rare and funny incidents related in the book!!!! Look for implicit messages and make comments about them.
FROM THE PUBLISHER In this book, the reader will encounter a richly contoured narrative that would carry him through the many details that make up life's experiences, leaving its indelible print on people and places alike. The most attractive from this book is the subject matter, which arouses curiosity. What maintains attention, once captured, is the style of writing. Firstly, the short story form It is a difficult genre in which to write, combining the same elements that are necessary in any good novel, but with the added challenge of spatial limitations. This really gives the writer room to flex his muscles, and to engage the reader on a number of different levels, both psychological and emotional. The stories here, of course, have a common thread that links them together, in the setting and the background. The chronological ordering enhances this effect still further, so that the reader really takes a journey with the narrator, moving across the years, and experiencing events and personalities as they once were. The reality of the happenings contained within the book adds an extra degree of appeal. It is, perhaps, the creation of atmosphere that is most striking in this work, allowing the reader a privileged glimpse back in time, and an intimate look at the lives of others. The reader can almost reach out and touch; so effective is the narrative reproduction of both character and scene: "Regino's place was located close to the pier. At the tip of that pier there was an old sea wolf by the name Hanie. He was a white man with white hair and a beard. He spent day after day with his fishing rod. Nobody knew where he came from as he could speak five different languages. Many times he served as interpreter for foreigners that came through that seaport".
The Route: The Forgotten Side of Vieques by Pragmacio, is a highly engaging and rewarding piece of writing.
