Item description for Church Administration Handbook-3rd Edition (Revise by Bruce P. Powers...
Overview Together with the newly revised "Christian Education Handbook," this volume provides complete basic church information and administrative guidelines.
Publishers Description What's new about this third edition of the long respected and often used "Church Administration Handbook"? In addition to time and technological-sensitive updates to the basic organizational details, editor Bruce Powers writes: "The needs of people and churches have continued to change, with questions now being raised about the quality of congregational life, nature of leadership, and responsibility for ministry among all believers . . . As we have prepared this edition, we have sought to address five primary needs. 1. Leadership skills and administrative tools that can be adapted for use in a variety of contexts from traditional to contemporary, from rural to urban, and from unicultural to multicultural settings; 2. Spiritual formation that relates to all of life (from birth to death); 3. Mission consciousness (in community, regionally, nationally, and globally); 4. Ministry of all believers (particularly calling out and equipping vocational, bivocational, and lay ministers); and 5. Leadership competence (the ability to inspire, motivate, and equip the saints for the work of ministry)."

After having met Dr. Powers and reading his book, I beileve him to be a gifted and passionate administrator and teacher. This book covers many of the prinicple topics of Church Administrative and is a great resource for new administrators and leaders as well experienced individulas needing a refresher. This has been reccomended reading for many of our members and will continue to be so in the future.
Super resource.. Jan 23, 2007
I purchased this book on the advice of a seminary professor. I am so glad I listened to his words.
This book provides many invaluable tools, forms, etc. to help the pastor (particularly new pastor) in his ministry.
This book should be a required text for a class by the same title!
Useful Church Administrator Resource Sep 9, 2006
Powers has written a useful (but bland) text outlining many of the tasks that are essential to effective church ministry. This is a highly recomended book for those looking to become administrators of churches or non-profit ministries.
A wonderful handbook for Church Administration. Feb 20, 2002
This book was wonderfully constructed. It is a must have for all pastors, chairmen of deacons, trustees and administrative assistants. If you have a question about how a proceedure should be done, more than likey this book has covered it. It will certainly be a compliment to your personal library.
