Breakfast with the Pope - Review Dec 1, 2006
In the course of his papacy, which began in 1978, John Paul II has reached out to all the people of the world. As the Third Millennium rapidly approached, he spoke even more frequently and strongly. He offered to everyone a message of wisdom, hope and love. Even though we normally saw this remarkable religious leader only at a distance, we felt his personal warmth. Very few actually got a chance to speak with this great man, but we get to know him better in this little book, a potpourri of 120 daily selections from the vast body of Pope John Paul II's writing, which brings us into contact with how he thought about many aspects of life. From the mystery of divine healing to the resurrection the dead, from the drudgery of daily work to a Christian view of sports, we can enjoy Breakfast with the Pope. "Let yourselves be charmed by Christ," he says, "the Infinite who appeared among you in visible and imitable form. Let yourselves be attracted by his example, which has changed the history of the world and directed it toward an exhilarating goal...
