Publishers Description New inspiration from the million-copy bestselling author of "90 Minutes in Heaven." Don Piper's "90 Minutes in Heaven" has sold more than a million copies and has been translated into 12 languages. Now, from "The Minister of Hope" comes the follow-up that millions of readers have been waiting for. On January 18th, 1989, Don Piper died in a car accident. Ninety minutes later, after a preacher prayed over him, Piper came back to life with an extraordinary story. He'd been to heaven. So began the phenomenon of "90 Minutes in Heaven." Now, for the millions who look to him for inspiration, Piper offers the hope that if he could survive his ordeal after the accident, then others can survive whatever life circumstances they're going through and grow in God's love through the experience. For Piper, heaven is a certainty-and so is God's grace. Relying on that assurance, believers can transform pain into purpose and troubles into blessings, finding joy in life even when life turns out not to be what they expected.
From Publishers Weekly Piper, well-known for his Christian bestseller 90 Minutes in Heaven, with over
1.4 million copies in print, takes his dramatic story one step further by
describing the lessons he's learned since he died on a bridge in Texas in
1989. Piper didn't stay dead, but instead returned from the gates of heaven a
changed man. "I left the bridge different than I had been when I started
across," he says. Piper uses the bridge metaphor throughout, describing his
salvation as the first bridge he crossed, then the traversal of another bridge
to a "new normal" after accepting that his life was forever altered. Other
journeys discussed include the bridge to compassion and the final bridge to
heaven (for good this time). Undergirded with e-mails and letters from people
who have read his book or heard him speak, Piper also leans heavily on the
example of the Apostle Paul and the New Testament book of Philippians.
Although the messages can be repetitive and the writing uninspired, Piper's
story is astounding and his life lessons are real: focus on the eternal, find
the humor, accept help, give thanks and just hold on. (Aug. 7) Copyright

Excellent book to share about Heaven and life on Earth till then May 16, 2010
My husband recently died so I'm really interested in what he is doing in Heaven and what I need to do till my time to go there....this book helped me a great deal with both issues.
Outstanding True Story -excellantly written May 16, 2010
Heaven Is Real, is a captivating true story that provides insight into the greatest question of life - what happens next. I have purchased numerous copies for friends and others who need to know the truth.
A must read for anyone who believes in God and Heaven! Mar 18, 2010
I read Pastor Don Piper's first book, "90 Minutes in Heaven", and couldn't put it down. His attempt to use wordly phrases to describe his experience while in Heaven was very difficult for him, but he managed beautifully. In "Heaven is Real" he explains why he was in his accident, and why he went to Heaven only to return to earth crippled and in daily pain. He states that God sent him back to spread his story world wide. I highly recommend both his books. He also has CD's and DVD's available, as well as an e-mail address, which one can find on the last page of "90 Minutes in Heaven".
Even if you're not a true believer, you will be once you read his stories. Thank you for allowing me to express my statement. Thank the Lord for Don Piper!

HEAVEN IS REAL by Don Piper and Cecil Murphey Jan 19, 2010
Heaven Is Real is Don Piper and Cecil Murphey's 2007 follow-up to Piper's 2004 book 90 Minutes in Heaven, wherein Piper recounted his death, experience in heaven, resuscitation, and arduous recovery.
In this book, the authors share many stories of other people who have faced traumatic adversity - deaths, suicides, divorces, cripplings, and so forth. Piper encourages such people to seek out the "new normal" - that is, to accept that the old life is gone and to accept the new paradigm and to move forward. A key biblical text, one that Piper quotes, is Job 2:10: "Should we accept the good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?"
Heaven Is Real, like 90 Minutes in Heaven, is mistitled (why they didn't go ahead and title it The New Normal is beyond me). The book's subtitle - "Lessons on earthly joy" - is more to the point. Piper's primary focus is on overcoming adversity in order to have a better life here, and about putting aside the bitterness and despair that accompany suffering.
Piper is humble, practical, and understanding, which does wonders for the book's accessibility. Unfortunately, the book is verbose and repetitive. Worse, it's often redundant with 90 Minutes in Heaven, and readers who have that book fresh in their minds may well find themselves doing quite a bit of skimming here.
If you've already read 90 Minutes in Heaven and you aren't suffering from despair or a horrific lifestyle change, Heaven Is Real isn't going to bring much to the table that you haven't seen before. But this book was written for those who have experienced great adversity, like Piper did, and to them this book is recommended.
