Item description for Large Eddy Simulation for Incompressible Flows by Pierre Sagaut...

The book is unique in that it is the only one of its kind devoted entirely to the subject of large-eddy simulation. It presents a comprehensive account of the available knowledge in this field, and also the first unified view of the various existing approaches. Large-eddy simulation is the only efficient technique for approaching high Reynolds numbers when simulating industrial, natural or experimental configurations. The author concentrates on incompressible fluids. The book gives a complete account of this young but very rich discipline. The topics are well chosen and both the mathematical ideas and the applicatons are presented with care. The book addresses researchers as well as graduate students and engineers.

After graduating from University Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris 6 in 1995, Professor Pierre Sagaut worked as a research engineer at ONERA (French National Aerospace Research Center) until 2002. That year, he returned to accept a Professorship in Mechanics at the University Pierre et Marie Curie and now teaches there, as well as at the Ecole Polytechnique. He remains a consultant at ONERA, with IFP and CERFACS (France). His primary research interests include fluid mechanics, aeroacoustics, numerical simulation of turbulent flows (both Direct and Large-Eddy Simulation) and numerical methods. He is also involved in uncertainty modeling for CFD. He authored and co-authored more than 90 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and 130 proceeding papers. He is the author of several books dealing with turbulence modeling and simulation. He is a member of several editorial boards: Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics, Journal of Scientific Computing, Progress in CFD. Three times he has received the ONERA award for the best publication, and the John Green Prize (delivered by ICAS, 2002). He is the co-author of Large-Eddy Simulation for Acoustics, also published by Cambridge University Press.

Pierre Sagaut was born in 1967 and has an academic affiliation as follows - Universit?? de Paris VI (Pierre et Marie Curie) Universite de Paris VI.

Reviews - What do customers think about Large Eddy Simulation for Incompressible Flows?

Good Book!!  Jul 12, 2007
Great Job, this book is good, but is very tiring. Because the subject is extensive.
Thank you!!
An atlas of large-eddy simulation  Jun 2, 2006
This book presents the current status of Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) and is invaluable for anyone working on the field.

The author presents all relevant subgrid scale models, the theoretical basis of the method, lessons from practical cases, etc

It is no accident that this is the 3rd revision in 4 years, collecting forewords from leading theoreticians along the way: Germano, Lesieur and Meneveau.
