Item description for Emotional Purity: An Affair of the Heart by Heather Arnel Paulsen...
Overview Emotional purity involves protecting your heart from becoming too intimate with someone of the opposite sex so you don't have to suffer through emotional damage over and over again.
Have you ever given your heart to someone who didn't love you back?
Do you feel like you've experienced heartache over and over again?
If you are emotionally attached to someone, it's easy to cross the line and become emotionally intimate. Then if the relationship doesn't work out, you're left with scars on your heart.
The church teaches us the importance of physical purity; but it teaches little about emotional purity. Christian singles often wear their hearts on their sleeves, which can lead to intense, emotionally intimate, male-female "friendships" with no commitment to pursuing marriage. People may have had several of these "friendships" and still consider themselves pure, but in reality they have given away pieces of their hearts that should be reserved for their future spouses. Emotional Purity will show you how to define and set boundaries in your relationships to avoid making the same mistakes. Learn how to guard your heart and keep it emotionally pure.
Using fictional and real-life examples along with sound biblical advice, author Heather Arnel Paulsen outlines the pitfalls of undefined relationships and presents guidelines for living an emotionally pure life.

Reviews - What do customers think about Emotional Purity?
painful dreams Sep 24, 2008
This book opens your eyes and understanding to the world of emotions and how much trouble they can cause a girl in a relationship with a boy. It shows how girls make up a dream life with a boy they think is cute just setting themselves up to have the dream shattered and cause them unnecesarry emotional and physical pain. The author uses her own experience to show how a girl or guy can guard from hurting themselves or each other by guarding how they think about each other and where they let their minds go when they think about each other. I have personally stopped the bad pattern of dissolusionment with guys Im attracted to by taking charge of the way I think about my relationship to them. This book changed the way I think in a very possitive way!

I really enjoyed reading Emotional Purity! It opened my eyes to a lot of things that I hadn't really thought about. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone!
A Very Helpful and Convicting Read Apr 20, 2008
After having searched long and hard for a good book on purity meant for the heart of girls, I bought this on the recommendation of a friend, and it was exactly what I was looking for. I have found that the major percentage of books out now focus on the mistakes other people make and try to tell you how to patch things up and move on, without much advice on how to avoid them in the first place. They will also tend to veer towards the physical aspect of relationships. This one though, goes to the heart of the problem for many girls, which is emotional purity. The keeping and guarding of our emotions and propensity to emotional attachment, which is one of God's gifts to a woman for her husband. I loved the practical advice given, and also the little sections "For Guys" at the ends of the chapters. All in all a highly recommended book for a young woman in Christ seeking to stand for purity as a whole, or even a young man seeking how to better guard the hearts of his sisters in Christ.
Love this book! Feb 9, 2008
I really like this book because it addresses what many christian singles have long neglected. Being cautious and understanding emotinal involvement can spare us pain and suffering.
wow Dec 11, 2007
After much reading, listening, and generally much time spent reviewing what has been recently put out on this subject, this book exceeded my expectations.
The author writes, not from a puritanistic, sheltered perspective, but from a realistic standpoint, yet clearly with a desire to be holy and set apart.
She gives great truths that I think can be easily and clearly communicated to all ages of singles - male and female, youths on up! Phenomenal book - a quick read, but one that I think begs a second - or third - read.
