Very Disappointing May 10, 2007
I am a believer in one true God who sent His only son to this earth for the redemption of our sins. I believe that Jesus is the way the truth and the light and the only way to heaven is through Him. If you do not know Him, you cannot know the Father. I was looking forward to learning more on how to share this message with non-believers and those who are anti-organized religion. However, in the first two chapters, I was quite offended for those who have not yet seen His glory. Our Maker created a world in which he gave us free-will and in that free-will we are able to choose to seek and see Him or turn our backs. I don't feel that the author of this book sees that in his view of non-Christians. I felt that non-Christians were to be defeated by Christians in his wording of finding our personal understanding of the world.
My first sunday school resource i finshed without forcing myself! Apr 14, 2007
Truely! i get a little lazy when i start a new sunday school class and will read the resources because i had to and gave myself excuses why i dint finish. But i read this book to the end;despite my busy schedule; because of relevant scriptural references and practical approaches that answered my questions and fears. I recommend it!
And they say Christians are ungraceful! Mar 16, 2007
I wrote this review in response to the previous, to balance out the poor user rating. I've attended two missions conference in which Paul spoke, and testify that he is a great communicator (I sometimes wondered why he did not become a comedian). Anyway, his convictions are sound and theology is conversative. This book is not bad; the other reviewer just picked up the wrong book! Perhaps I would recommend for him "Start loving...and Stop Hating." Jesus is the way, the only man who conquered death!
Sickening.....and WRONG Oct 19, 2004
I only got to around page 15 in this abomination of a book before I put it where it belongs---in my kitchen wastebasket. This terrible book teaches that a "true Christian" has to tell his family and friends that if they don't "accept Jesus as their Savior", they're going to "Hell", where they'll be tormented day and night in unimaginable agony for "eternity". Borthwick himself criticizes the Biblically correct doctrine of universal salvation (all people, whether Christian or not in this present life, will eventually be saved) as not being Biblical, but of course provides ZERO proof. This inability to conclusively prove anything is typical of evangelical Conservative "Christians".
Borthwick claims that the teaching of eternal torment will keep people from committing crimes and causing trouble. Bullroar. Crimes will continue whether Hell is taught or not. His basic and central point is that you MUST get your family and friends to "accept" Jesus before it's "too late". This is also unbiblical. The whole book is unbiblical. It is typical crap coming out of ChristenDUMB.
Borthwick is teaching the most demonic and unscriptural teaching imaginable. L. Ray Smith, the founder of the excellent website, bible-truths.com, would win a debate with Borthwick HANDS DOWN. Smith's site is INFINITELY SUPERIOR to the garbage Borthwick preaches. Sorry, Paul, but your book is full of BAD news, NOT the TRUE Good News of the universal salvation given to all through the Lord Jesus Christ.
