Item description for Above All Women: The Story of the Virgin Mary by Patricia Pfeiffer...
Overview In "Above All Women," the Virgin Mary comes to life as a real person living through the same emotions that women do today. Patricia Pfeiffer has torn away the mists that shrouded Mary, showing her vulnerability, her humanity, her faith. From shepherd's hut to palace, from humiliation to exaltation, Mary believes God's promise that her son will be king. She despairs in the circumstances of her life when God does not seem to be keeping this promise. The fear of King Herod haunts her from childhood to her death in Jerusalem.

Reviews - What do customers think about Above All Women: The Story of the Virgin Mary?
Disappointing Recreation Dec 12, 1999
To leave the Virgin Mary entirely within the confines of the biblical frames of reference is to miss the better part of what she is, and what she has been about for 2,000 years. I found this presentation plodding. The flights of fancy were of the Kitty Hawk variety, historical and rhetorical rather than imaginative. I hope my heirs never pass this one along to a library. It was a disappointment.
Very enjoyable, Pfeiffer painted a clear picture of the era Oct 30, 1998
I enjoyed reading this book tremendously. It was an easy read and gave a good feel for the time of Christ. I felt closer to Mary and Jesus because this book showed their daily lives. It also had a good story to carry the book along.
