Item description for Pure Joy by Patricia Knight...
Overview In Pure Joy, Patricia gives us 57 extraordinary devotionals that can easily be adapted for Bible study. She shares her secret to living with constant, chronic pain as God's gift of abundant joy and happiness. Tenacity of faith, constant prayer, rejoicing, and obedience are key elements in God's formula for victorious living. Patricia uses biblical characters to skillfully weave a pattern of examples from Scripture. Job suffered loss and disease. Joseph was abandoned by his family and thrown into prison on a trumped-up charge. Esther risked her life for her nation. Noah built a seafaring ark in the middle of the desert. God had reasons for all of their hardships, eventually converting them into abundant blessings. God's Word reveals His love and plans for individuals in our contemporary culture just as magnificently as He did for His servants centuries ago. Living on the shore of a freshwater lake in Maine, Patricia regularly observes sunsets and rainbows, wildlife and birds, and her beautiful garden flowers. Such bountiful gifts from the Creator are woven with the fruit of the Spirit-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control-into a tapestry of love and rejoicing in God and encouragement for each individual.

More About Patricia Knight
Patricia Knight was born in 1941 and has an academic affiliation as follows - City and Islington College, UK.
Comfort and encouragement for those in pain Mar 1, 2003
Patricia Knight has been suffering with chronic pain for more than twenty-five years, and yet she has found "pure joy" through her unshakable faith in God. As one who suffers with chronic pain myself, I have found this book of devotionals to be helpful in learning to view pain as a gift from God and to experience joy and peace even in the midst of pain. Patricia uses characters from the Bible, such as Job (and his wife), Noah, Joseph, and Esther, as well as stories from her own life, to bring insight into ways that God can turn hardships into blessings. Suffering is a part of all of our lives, but we can all learn to have joy that can come only from God.
What is Pure Joy? Feb 26, 2003
Pure Joy is knowing that there is a loving God in heaven, and that He pays attention to each of us as individuals. In her book, Pure Joy, Patricia Carver Knight makes that well known. Patricia uses nature and her surroundings to bring biblical characters to life. Have you ever seen a loon dancing on the water? Read Maturing in God (page 33) to find out why they do it. Are you a worrier? Find out how to overcome worry in your life in Why Worry (page 57). If you are someone who enjoys surprises, The Box (page 155) will make your heart skip a beat. It is my favorite of all the devotionals in this book. Many people live with chronic pain. Patricia is one of them. It is through living with pain that she has developed the empathy which permeates each of the devotionals in Pure Joy. I recommend Pure Joy to anyone who seeks a new perspective in life. This work will make you smile, laugh, and cry. It will touch your heart.
