Item description for Wisdom for the BusyLeader by Pat Richie...
In the year 2000 Pat Richie began sending a weekly email devotion to 30 NFL coaches and administrators called "Wisdom for the Busy SportsLeader." Each could be read in about 20 seconds. By the end of the year about 500 people from all walks of life asked to be included on the mailing list. Eventually people requested that the devotions be compiled into a book. This book is the result of those requests. "Wisdom for BusyLeaders" has been somewhat re-written to apply to a broader audience, although you will read much that comes from sports. Mike Holmgren says, "This book is 250 devotions, full of interesting quotes, practical wisdom, and most importantly verses from God's Word. I try to take a few minutes each day to read this devotion and make a commitment to improve an area of my life or learn an important lesson I want to remember." Pat Richie is a speaker and consultant in the areas of teamwork and leadership to Fortune 500 companies, professional and college sports organizations, and government agencies. From 1981-1998 he served as team chaplain of the San Francisco Forty-Niners. Three times he was awarded Super Bowl Rings for his contributions to the team. In 1990 he was inspired to encourage NFL players to pray on the 50-yard line at the conclusion of the game. This prayer has become a tradition across football and today every NFL, major college, and many high school games end in prayer between opponents. Pat now works with CEO's and executive teams building cohesion, leadership and organizational clarity to drive results, and create a more enjoyable, productive work environment. He also leads strategic discussions for companies in many fields. More information on Pat Richie's work can be found at: www.slgcorporate.com Pat can be reached at: email@example.com

The Wisdom Behind Three Super Bowl Rings Dec 9, 2007
In "Wisdom for the BusyLeader," former San Francisco Forty-Niner team chaplain (1981-1998) Pat Richie has compiled 250 devotions he has developed and distributed via email to NFL coaches and administrators since 2000. His mailing list has been expanded to over 500 leaders from all walks of life via word-of-mouth walks of life who have requested to be added. Weekly readers include such nationally known and diverse leaders like Mike Holmgren (Seattle SeaHawks), Leslie Ferrell (VeggieTales), Andre DelBecq, PhD (Chairman Emeritus, School of Business, University of Santa Clara), and Kevin Compton (Kleiner Perkins).
There is a good reason for the viral growth of Richie's weekly reflections. They contain simple, biblically based, wisdom written to instruct and remind readers - all in 60 seconds or less! An example is page 16, `Winter':
"Nobody roots for Goliath" - Wilt Chamberlain
"I have never met a BusyLeader who wanted their organization to be underfunded, undermanned, and overworked. Only when forced to, do leaders play the `David' card to inspire the troops. There is nothing wrong with physical advantages, or being the best. The thing that set David apart from Goliath was where he placed his confidence."
"Goliath was amazed that anyone would defy HIM. David was amazed that anyone would defy GOD."
"David spoke and said, `Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of a living God?' - I Samuel 17:26"
"Wisdom" is organized around the seasons of the year and includes a foreword by New York Times best selling author, Pat Lencioni. Readers will quickly see why the Forty-Niners awarded Richie three Super Bowl rings for his contribution to the team.
