OSSI (born in Milan, 1953) PhD in Solid State Physics, is Associate Professor of Physics of Matter at the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Nucleare, Politecnico di Milano. His current research interests include the structure of metastable condensed systems, the interaction between energetic photon and particle beams and solids, the properties (in particular structural and mechanical) of thin films, both metallic and ceramic, deposited in the presence of energetic beams. Paolo M. Ossi is author, or co-author of more than 100 scientific papers, besides many contributions to international Conferences, Workshops and Symposia.

Paolo M. Ossi was born in 1953.

Rigorous but not complete  Aug 21, 2003
I am a materials science engineer and read this book to learn about diamond-like carbon, which is a disordered material. This book covers a lot of topics, and ues a fair deal of equations and figures. It adequately covers most topics about disordered materials, though I could not find much information about diamond-like carbon. I would not recommend this book as an introductory text on the subject, but it is good for a reference. The text assumes the reader has fairly good knowledge of geometry, math, and solid state science, along with materials science. Much of the text could be rewritten to make it more readable, without reducing content.
