More About Oswald Chambers
Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) was born July 24, 1874, in Aberdeen, Scotland. He came into a personal relationship with Jesus as his Savior in his teen years under the ministry of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, and studied art and archeology at the University of Edinburgh before answering a call from God to the Christian ministry. He then studied theology at Dunoon College. From 1906-1910 he conducted an itinerant Bible-teaching ministry in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan. In 1910, Chambers married Gertrude Hobbs. They had one daughter, Kathleen.
In 1911 he founded and became principal of the Bible Training College in Clapham, London, where he lectured until the school was closed in 1915 because of World War I. In October 1915 he sailed for Zeitoun, Egypt (near Cairo), where he ministered to troops from Australia and New Zealand as a YMCA chaplain. He died there November 15, 1917, following surgery for a ruptured appendix.
Although Oswald Chambers wrote only one book, "Baffled to Fight Better" (since updated and titled "Our Ultimate Refuge"), more than thirty titles bear his name. Mrs. Chambers, a court stenographer, compiled the rest of her husband's published works from her verbatim shorthand notes. For half a century following her husband's death she labored to give his words to the world. "My Utmost For His Highest," his best-known work, has been continuously in print in the United States since 1935 and remains in the top ten titles of the religious book bestseller list with millions of copies in print. It has become a Christian classic. "
Oswald Chambers was born in 1874 and died in 1918.

Completely Oswald Chambers Dec 14, 2008
This "complete works" is exactly what i had hoped it would be; quality paper, CD included. Now if i can just digest it. I recommend it for anyone wanting to read more of his writtings.
Spiritually and and mentally stimulating Dec 4, 2008
I have found this book a great treasure of spiritual insight written by a man who knew what it was to 'walk with God' in an intimate and personal relationship. His writings challenge the reader's heart with gentle but succinct Biblical truths and principles that have and will span all peoples, areas, and generations of life. It is also a delight to read the many well placed poems interspersed in his writings that are authored by well known poets of past ages.
An Absolute Treasure Oct 17, 2008
More than 40 years ago, I was introduced to Oswald Chambers through his book, "My Utmost For His Highest." Through the years, I have been able to find only a few other books written by him, and those were usually overseas. What a pleasant surprise it was to find "The Complete Works of Oswald Chambers" in one volume and with the bonus CD containing the entire transcript. I have a very large personal, counseling and theological library but recently, have spent more time in this one volumne than I have in all the others. I can sit down to read the book or use the CD and suddenly realize that many hours have passed.
Buy this for every Bible College Student you know. May 29, 2008
I wish someone had given me this book when I first felt called to ministry my senior year of high school. This book can help you get ready the right way for ministry. If we are to buy wisdom and not sell it, this book should be at the top of that shopping list. When I read it I feel like Oswald Chambers is mentoring me personally, drawing from his deep experience with God and shooting straight with me. Thank God for Oswald Chambers, and for my dad who gave this to me to read.
Invaluable Resource Apr 5, 2008
To think this man, Oswald Chambers, did most of his work as sermons and lessons which were then transcribed by his wife, and to think those works are shining with brilliance taken from personal truth and scriptural eternities, and to think he is largely overlooked by laymen and thinkers today is truly amazing. Delve into this book, it is a keepsake. It is an invaluable resource for those who believe God is love and that God makes an attempt to reach those who seek for his answers and help.
