Reviews - What do customers think about Christ's Mother & Ours: Christ's Mother And Ours?
Christ's Mother and Ours Feb 17, 2006
This book is an excellent resource for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. It explains in clear and simple terms the relationship between Mary and the Church. It details the Catholic view of Mary and clears up many misconceptions. It also includes an excellent explanation of the rosary with very helpful meditations to bring the mysteries of the rosary to life. I found this book helpful in fitting Mary into the framework of my faith with the proper emphasis and understanding. A must read.
Opened my Eyes Dec 31, 2005
I found this book to be a real eye opener. I read this book before Scott Hahn's "Hail Holy Queen" came out. I never understood why Catholics called Mary the "Queen of Heaven" before this, and now I do and I am so happy to know it, it makes complete sense to me now and is very biblical. I recommend this book.
Mary in the Church Dec 8, 2005
I found this book would show Catholics how Mary is supported by the scriptures and her importance to Jesus and therefore us. And for non-Catholics you will see how Mary is prayed to for intercession and is not worshipped. Which seems to be a large misconception held by many.
We are shown what the Bible itself has to say about Mary. And we are explained the Church's teachings on Her. This book also covers Mary in Liturgy, the Sacraments and our daily life. There is a discussion of Apparitions and what they mean. The last three chapters are a very good explanation of how the Rosary is the Bible translated into Prayer.
Christ's Mother & Ours Jan 9, 2001
Being a non-Catholic who is becoming more and more interested in the Catholic Church, I have been reading all I can find on the subjects that need to be explained to me about the Catholic Faith. I looked forward to reading this book because all my life I believed that Catholics pray to Mary and consider Mary essential to salvation. I wanted to be convinced of Mary's importance. This book falls far short of that goal. The author at times even seems to be very hostile to non-catholic thought. After reading the book, I almost stopped my inquiry into the Church. Thank goodness I came across another book that cleared up the problems. In short, I would not recommend this book for anyone other than confirmed Catholics, definately not anyone considering becoming a Catholic convert.
Get the real scoop on Mary! Jul 26, 1999
This book was especially helpful to me, since I was a protestant from birth. In learning more about The Catholic Church, this book has helped me overcome the negative lies and mistruths that protestants and others have said (and still say) for years. Whether you're looking to learn more about Mary, or increase your devotion to her, this book is a must buy! It begins with a simple introduction in Chapter 1, "Why Mary?", and takes you through what The Bible has to say about her, the church's teachings on her, Mary in the Liturgy, Apparitions, Mary in Sacramentals, the Arts, and Life, an indepth study of the Rosary, and so much more.
