Childhood sexual abuse is running rampant, yet it's the best kept secret in our nation today. Its victims grow into adulthood with their little child's heart trapped in the pain and torment of their past. Nicole Braddock Bromley shares her own story and the steps to moving from silence to healing. "Hush" exposes the harsh realities of childhood abuse, explains the pain it causes, examines the false beliefs it creates, and empowers survivors to begin a personal journey toward healing by breaking the silence. With words of understanding and comfort, Nicole tells the real-life stories of those whose voices would otherwise never be heard. She is straightforward enough to pierce the hearts of those in a survivor's circle of influence, yet careful to tread lightly on what could be tender words.

COMPLETE process of healing Mar 11, 2010
I just wanted to say that this was a great book and a great resource for Christians dealing with abuse. When we adopted our boys three years ago and they started sharing with us their abuse we started looking for resources to help them and educate us on what to do to help them. Since then I've looked at and read a lot of stuff on abuse and unfortunately very few are faith based and don't have the healing message yours conveys. With this book God is helping me understand what my children are going through. Thanks!
Looking for Help...THIS IS IT. Dec 11, 2009
To be honest what first caught my attention to this book was the cover. In this case, the cover did match the content. As I began reading hush, I felt immediately part of the book. This is me...I AM NOT ALONE! Logically we all know we are not alone, sexual abuse is a huge problem, but sometimes our hearts don't feel that same security. I think this book should be read by everyone. As a parent, it may help avert a problem in your children's lives, or deal with an issue you have ignored for too long. As a survivor, this book is filled with real information and real answers. It is not packed with a lot of "filler", instead it is packed with facts, experiences, what to expect when telling family, etc..., how to deal with those situations, and most of all, IT IS FILLED WITH HOPE. This book is like your own personal cheering section. Encouragement to go on...to end the guilt...to end the silence...and stand up for yourself and take away the power of the abusher.
I recently purchased an extra copy and gave it to the Therapist I was seeing because she had not read it yet. When you read this book you connect with the Author. You feel that Nichole Braddock Bromley is your helpful neighbor, the girlfriend you are meeting for lunch tomorrow. I guess what I am trying to say is that this book feels to be written with love, it has the things you need to not only get through this but to come out happy, powerful and not afraid to SPEAK OUT. I also appreciate that it is written with facts, with Biblical based principles. Please, Please, Please, read this book. It changes lives. It changed mine,I will always be indebted to this author!
I am currently reading her next book, Breathe.
"Real" Aug 6, 2009
"Real" - That was one of my first thoughts when I began reading this book. It is an awesome (and in my opinion, anointed) book that truly captures, not only the emotional, but also the spiritual aspect of what a sexually abused person deals with. "Sexual abuse is like a bolt of lightning that strikes us at our very core. It's more than an attack on our body; it's an assault on our emotions, mind and spirit." The author does an amazing job of sharing her personal journey of healing from the effects of childhood sexual abuse and projects hope to others through her testimony she willingly shares in order to convey some of the underlying themes: "you are not alone!", "you have a voice", "break the silence". This book captures the reality of sexual abuse. It speaks to the bondage that overpowers a victim's heart and to the powerful spiritual healing that is needed in order to overcome a heart that's been held captive since the onset of the abuse. I was deeply touched by the powerful healing conveyed through Nicole's personal story, as well as others that are shared in the book. I have never read a book that so adequately captures the Christian perspective regarding sexual abuse and what needs to transpire in order to obtain the healing that is needed in one's own heart, so that you can truly be "set free" from that bondage. It is an inspiring book, not only for childhood sexual abuse victims, but for ALL abuse victims.
I highly recommend reading this book, especially if you are working with others who may have been sexually abused. The book conveys that it is possible to go from `victim to victor' if you allow God to heal your heart. If you've been blessed with not having sexual abuse in your past, this book will provide you with a deeper understanding of what a sexually abused person deals with, as well as ideas on how to minister to that person. It's a quick, easy read and I believe you will be blessed by reading it. Hush - A Phenomenal Book Jun 7, 2008
This is one of the best books I've read regarding finding the path to true healing following childhood sexual abuse. The author, Nicole B. Bromley, does an excellent job of relating to the reader as she expresses her caring heart, and she clearly points out the steps that the victim needs to take in order to move toward healing. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever been sexually abused.
