Reviews - What do customers think about The American Truth?
For having the passion to put this together Aug 10, 2008
Clearly, what's most compelling about this book is the author's attempt to get the information out. He invites you up front to visit the compendium on his web site, which is in more detail and more often updated than the book itself is. Think of it as a kind of Trojan horse that doesn't have a lot of bite in its belly but does call attention to things that ought to be calmly considered. It doesn't have the hysterical edge that some in the 911 Truth Movement have, so I was able to read the information presented and think "Hmmmmm...." without rejecting it out of hand. I must admit, it made me want to explore further.
I found the nonfictional parts more compelling than the fictional story that follows. I get the sense that the fictional story is maybe a first or second draft that could have been much better had more elbow grease been applied; that, or an honest, heartfelt effort in the hands of someone who has no illusions about being a "real writer." In the hands of someone who would know how to treat the material, it could have been a real thriller with a movie deal in the works. As it stands now, though, it's pretty threadbare storytelling with mistakes that will make any sensitive reader wince.
I am happy, however, to have sent a bit of money this author's way. The more people we have thinking about what's really going on in our world, the better, and it's clear the author is passionate about his subject.
The Only Review You Need Oct 26, 2007
Okay, so the book starts out loaded with conjecture, second-hand sources, and shamelessly bad prose. Can you say, grammar? I am not being a jerk, but I can write better than this. It's just hard to take seriously; thus, I did not make it more than two-hundred pages deep. And that was a serious undertaking. Now, I am not conservative in the slightest--crazily liberal, infact--and don't quite care for the governments take on what happened. However, the more I researched empirically and submerged myself in the world of cold science, the more I came back empty-handed. I was finding nothing that indicated the more elaborate and fanciful explanations/conspiracies that the "theorists" were putting out. I started talking to my physics prof/ the campus ME faculty and subscribed to a few scientific journals, all of this circa 2004-05, when I realized that when you take a completely uncontrolled circumstance, such as 9/11, there are and will be so many variables and unaccounted-for's, that it will make all the unexplained phenomena of a controlled experiment (and there is, almost every time) look wildly meek by contrast. And I was able to personally debunk every 9/11 theory out there. Almost. The only one that remains a true oddity that side-stepped my rationale was WT7. And I have yet to here anyone really debunk this one rationally. I still can't fully account for that. And I believe it needs to be. The rest is junk, including this badly written/researched book. Please, not this book. Any other book, this one's for the reptilian race believers. Peace.
A fantastic page turner!! Oct 20, 2007
The American Truth is a fantastic page turner!! The author has an excellent grasp of the facts he contructs the plot around. I highly recommend this book!!!!
Very Well Presented Sep 28, 2007
The books does a great job of presenting controversial political and social issues. Instead of pointing fingers or trying to explain complex conspiracy theories, this book presents the 9/11 Truth issues in a easy-to-read, entertaining novel.
The author does not come across as being preachy - he simply creates a fast past novel that raises some good points and lets readers come to their own conclusions. I am not used to reading mainly nonfiction books, but it was great getting to read a good piece of fiction for a change. I think this book has the potential to interests those who are not bookworms or political savvy.
Creativity at its Best Sep 28, 2007
The author Nick Shelton did a great job in using creating a creative and entertaining story out of facts established by the 9/11 Truth community. 9/11 Truth seems to be a political issue that is gaining interests in the U.S. and many international areas. I'm sure that high quality works like this one will help spread the message of 9/11 Truth and help raise awareness to one of the most controversial topics of today's time.
Regarding the storyline of the book, I thought it does a great job of creating an entertaining story with interesting research. The chapters are short and they are full of action. It was a pleasant surprise for me to read.
