Reviews - What do customers think about NLT2 Compact Camo Bible-Zipper-Pink Camo Canvas?
My husbands LOVES this Bible! Dec 6, 2008
It was supposed to be a birthday gift, but he "found" it early. It's been love at first sight ever since.
My husband is a rough and tumble kind of guy, so anything he owns has to stand up to a good amount of wear and tear in a short period of time. He's been using this Bible for about a month now, and it still looks new. The camo fabric has held up to just about anything he's thrown at it, and the zipper - well that's what has kept the pages in perfect condition.
His eye sight is not the best, and glasses don't quite get him there, but he can still read the print easily. The pages are not too thin or too transparent to make the print "bleed" through, which was one of my biggest fears in getting this sight unseen. I hate it when that happens.
And I can't say enough about the NLT. It has definitely become my favorite version for reading the Bible under the direction of the Holy Spirit. I have several versions of the Bible, and the King James will always have a place in my heart, but when I am reading for comprehension in today's context, I prefer the NLT over the NIV, The Message, the Holman, and even the Amplified version. The NET and the CEV are great for easy comprehension as well, but the combination of the NLT and the rugged camo cover is exactly what my husband needed.
What good is a Bible that sits on the shelf anyway? All the beauty, all the leather, all the tradition, and all the wonderful versions don't do anyone any good if they won't actually pick it up and READ it.
Great Bible Oct 28, 2008
Although this is far from my favorite translation, this is a GREAT bible! It is small and easy to put in a pocket of a backpack (or for the women, a purse). Even though it is small, the printing is easy to read. The cover appears quite durable and the zipper is a great addition to protect the pages. As for the camo cover, again, a great touch. This is perfect for campers, hunters, anyone who loves being out in the wild, and especially our troops in the field. This is absolutely a perfect gift for a soldier. They are in extra need for the word of GOD. Especially being so far from home with so many anti-war people seemingly being more than happy to make our troops' lives miserable (and politicians working to prevent their votes from being counted). It would be nice to have a version in desert camo. I might buy a case and have them shipped to Iraq.
Well Camouflaged Sword of the Spirit Aug 26, 2008
The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:11 & 17 "Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil...Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" (NLT). The New Living Translation (yep, a translation just like the NIV and good old KJV) Camo Bible is my "sword of choice"; a vivid, combat-like reminder that I live, work, and minister in a spiritual battle zone, where I need a Sword that reads well, travels well, and works well. This Bible is perfect for the road; an ideal size, with easy to read print, fabric camo cover and zipper closure. Bottom line, it fits perfectly in most briefcases or backpacks, available for use in a moment's notice.
negative message Jun 28, 2008
I would never buy a "Camo" bible. The camo brings to mind hunting animals and killing people in war. What must these publishers be thinking or maybe they aren't thinking.
