Interesting book of designers and artists working with pattern Nov 28, 2009
I have found this to be one of the better books on pattern/graphics/illustration from Victionary. I like it because it has a good range of media; flatware, wallpaper, shoes, fashion, homewares, packaging etc. I also like the book as an object: it is lovely to hold, with a good binding and an unusual pinked-edged plastic dust jacket. Each pattern has at least a double page, with one giving a full-page image of the pattern, and the other showing the object on which the pattern is used, with details of designer/year/media etc. One minor niggle with this book is that the artist's name and city of origin is printed over a small patterned circle. At times this patterned background makes the info hard to read in less-then-ideal light. However I have to say that if you have one book on graphics by Victionary then think hard before buying this, or indeed any other, as they are all so similar (bordering on monotonous). This and Illustration Play would be my favorites.
