A girl comes of age in a small, seaside community close to Camp Lejeune Marine Corps base during the early days of World War II. In spite of warnings from her father, she falls in love with a handsome, young Marine. Then he goes off to war and leaves her behind and pregnant. Her father intercepts her lover's letters from the front and she doesn't hear from him. She bears their son and raises him alone. She becomes a successful businesswoman but she never forgets the love she shared with her son's father. Filled with many twists and turns and told in the down east, North Carolina, dialect, this is a story of faith and love and determination. Does she ever find her Marine? Read it and find out for yourself.

Lossie is truly one of the best books I have ever read and I am an avid reader!! The author keeps you turning pages nonstop and nothing in the book is predictable. My eighteen year old daughter also loved the book and included it in her senior anthology this past year. We were also able to meet Nellie Batson in her home in Snead's Ferry and have become great friends with her and her family. Oprah really needs to discover this delightful lady and feature Lossie in her book club. Buy this book and read it once a month. You'll really love the story with all it's twists and turns and feel like you are living in Snead's Ferry next door to Lossie.
Lossie Oct 24, 2003
While visiting family in Sneads Ferry N.C. I was reading Lossis which I could hardly put down when I had the opportunity to meet the author. She is as delightful as her book. I purchased two more books from her to give as gifts one for my grand-daughter and one for a special friend. She is truly a great author and keeps her readers wanting more and is a wonderful book to give to a young person to read.

Lossie is an epic tale that caresses you softly and then grips you with intrigue. You can almost smell the salt in the air and feel the breeze in your hair as you settle into the small fishing village of Sneads Ferry. Love, anger, sorrow, achievement, happiness, treachery, bewilderment, forgiveness, fullfillment ..., it's all here.
Holding Stedfastly To Your Dreams Aug 17, 2002
The passion of each day of life creates within us a special zeal to keep pressing on. Our dreams, our plans, our hopes are what lie within each of us. Lossie knew of such emotions and lived life fully. She was an inspiration to all who met her. Her inner beauty was truly revealed to the reader. I truly enjoyed the book. To the author, I express my gratitude for a great story that will inspire the lives of many.
