Arthurian Delight Jul 26, 2005
It is always a delight when an author approaches the Arthurian universe and brings out new and enjoyable perspectives. This is exactly what Edward Louis has done in this wonderful new novel. It is tale wherein we meet familiar figures from King Arthur's world, such as Sir Gareth and Sir Lancelot, but encounter them in ways never seen before. Mr. Louis must be commended for the development of the title character, the somewhat shadowy figure of the Round Table whose adventures as a virtuous slayer of beasts and monsters are narrated with an entertaining mixture of drama and fun. And Severus' lady love, the mysterious and beautiful enchantress Lilava, brings her own charms to the story. What emerges is a delightful romp through the world of Arthur's Britain and Ireland, with many elements of folklore blended seamlessly with Arthurian characters. Humor and action and romance, along with commendable character development, make this a story that will appeal to fans of Tolkien and fantasy, Arthurian legend, and anyone who likes a good story.
