Item description for For Everyone Gospel Set (6-pack)Â by Tom Wright & N. T. Wright...
Overview Tom Wright's eye-opening comments on the Gospel and what it might mean for us are combined, passage by passage, with his new translation of the Bible text. Making use of his true scholar's understanding, yet writing in an approachable and anecdotal style, Wright captures the immediacy of Matthew's Gospel in a way few writers have. Tom Wright has undertaken a tremendous task: to provide guides to all the books of the New Testament and to include in them his own translation of the entire text. Each short passage is followed by a highly readable discussion, with background information, useful explanations and suggestions, and thoughts as to how the text can be relevant to our lives today. A glossary is included at the back of the book. The series is suitable for group study, personal study, or daily devotions.

Reviews - What do customers think about For Everyone Gospel Set (6-pack)Â?
Helping Everyone Understand Scripture Aug 9, 2006
Tom Wright has written (or will write) commentaries on each book in the New Testament. Known in the scholarly world as NT Wright, he is a brilliant and orthodox New Testament scholar and the Bishop of Durham, England. The 'Everyone' commentaries take his groundbreaking and insightful thinking on the Gospels and Paul and put it into an easy-to-understand format for all readers.
I use them every morning as part of my time with God - I read a selection from the Gospels (I'm working my way through Luke) and a selection from the Epistles (I'm working my way through Romans).
I strongly recommend these commentaries. They will challenge your thinking and enrich your spiritual life.
The Best stuff on the Gospels Anywhere! Jul 10, 2006
Tom (N. T.) Wright has written the best commentary series that anyone can read any time, any place, any where. Wow! You get the Wright translations (divided up into sections), followed by a quick story or anecdote, followed by the Wright (and I must say "Right!) interpretation. Wright holds each gospel together as literature from beginning to end and does not fragment the story or train of thought. The best thing for those not familiar with high theology is that there are not any big words. The good thing for those scholars is that his interpretations are based on great scholarly insight. It will be hard to find any commentaries anywhere that do as good a job interpreting the text than Wright does in each and every Gospel. Wright basically captures the following themes: YHWH's rule or Kingdom is happening and happening through Jesus, the exile is ending and the new Exodus is taking place this time not from Pharoah, but from sin and death. Also, the presence of God is coming to dwell in the new Temple of God and the new Israel is coming about in Jesus. Everyone should read this set of commentaries. This is well worth the money.
Best new commentary series Sep 20, 2005
N. T. Wright's commentaries on the New Testament are the best of any commentary series I have ever used. Wright combines scholarship with down-to-earth stories which help to apply the Scriptures to everyday life. I am already using these commentaries for personal devotion as well as preparation for preaching.
