More About Moleskine
Moleskine was created as a brand in 1997, bringing back to life the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers over the past two centuries: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin.
A trusted and handy travel companion, the nameless black notebook held invaluable sketches, notes, stories, and ideas that would one day become famous paintings or the pages of beloved books. Today, the name Moleskine encompasses a family of nomadic objects: notebooks, diaries, journals, bags, writing instruments and reading accessories, dedicated to our mobile identity. Indispensable companions to the creative professions and the imagination of our times: they are intimately tied to the digital world.
Since January 2007, Moleskine has also become the name of the company that owns the worldwide trademark rights for the brand. Moleskine SpA creates, produces, and distributes not only the well-known notebooks and their various offshoots, but also a series of objects for the creativity of the contemporary nomad. The company grew out of the experience of Modo&Modo, a small Milanese publisher that in 1997 created the Moleskine trademark, rediscovering and renewing an extraordinary tradition. In the fall of 2006, Modo&Modo was purchased by SGCapital Europe, now Syntegra Capital, with the objective of fully developing the potential of the Moleskine brand.
Moleskine SpA is a small and creative company enjoying continuing growth. It now has about one hundred employees and a vast network of partners and consultants. Its home office is in Milan, Italy. Its affiliates are Moleskine America, Inc, with offices in New York, established in early 2008, and Moleskine Asia, Ltd, with offices in Hong Kong, established in late 2011.

Excellent Notebook May 31, 2010
Moleskine y toda su línea de libretas, son excelentes y durables. Siempre las ocupo para tomar notas en reuniones o viajes. Y la square 5" x 8" 1/4 es de un tamaño óptimo
Best Notebook I've ever used May 23, 2010
This product is the best notebook I've ever used. I'm the type who get given a lot of notebook by well meaning people and I've never really found one I care for. This is the first time I've used Moleskine and I love it. The flexible softcover is just stiff enough and soft enough for a nice feel. The elastic the keeps it closed is great so none of the pages get damaged over time. The pages are nice and don't bleed. The back pocket is great for small items. I would recommend this product to anyone for any purpose.
Lines are too dark Apr 26, 2010
Within the same order, I purchased a pocket sized "ruled" moleskine, a pocket sized "squared" moleskine, and a large sized "squared" moleskine. Unfortunately, the lines in both the squared moleskines are too dark. They are noticeably darker than the lines in the ruled moleskine (I compared them very closely to ensure that my analysis was correct). Indeed, the lines are so dark that it's difficult to read what is written in black pen. The only upside is that if someone is trying to read what you've written, over your shoulder, they will have a difficult time doing so.
This is unfortunate, because my friend's squared moleskine (which he purchased "several years ago") has lines that are much lighter in color, like the lines which appear in the "ruled" moleskines. I'm guessing that I had a bum production batch, or they've amended the product from its previous form.
Also, with the squared moleskine, the lines are too close together. They are closer together than the lines in the "ruled" moleskines. This makes it difficult to write quickly if you're writing one line of text per line. You have to write so small that it's difficult to keep up your writing speed.
Overall, a disappointment. But generally I love moleskine notebooks. Just sucks that the "squared" version (or at least the ones shipped to me) are so flawed.
Little tiny squares... Mar 19, 2010
Love these notebooks...they are amazing. One of them travels with me wherever I go. They are well made and durable.
best little notebook Feb 17, 2010
i love this little notebook. perfect for work. great size. not too big, not too small. easy to carry to the lab, or a meeting. i kinda like the hard cover version better. i got the soft cover by accident. i only looked at the size and color in the image and didn't read the 'soft' part. it lets you take notes on it. graph paper inside lets you draw images/schematics/tables really easy. love the sneaky pocket in the back for biz cards. i keep a few post-it's and 'sign-here' tags in the cover.
