Reviews - What do customers think about Blind Dates Can Be Murder (Smart Chick Mysteries, Book 2)?
Cliffhangers Can Be Murder Dec 15, 2006
Mindy Starns Clark's Blind Dates Can Be Murder was a fun read. Mindy has a way of putting the reader into the characters' minds--disconcerting when the character is a sociopath.
Also disconcerting is the way she ends this page-turner. Who in their right mind wants a cliff hanger ending to a suspense novel? Sure, a sequel is in the works, but do I have to wait and see where it's going? 'Tain't fair!
I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN. Oct 15, 2006
This book was so good. I can't wait until the next one comes out. I'll have to buy the other series of Clark's. She has me hooked on her books now.
Another 4-1/2 star book in Smart Chick Mystery series Aug 31, 2006
Blind Dates Can Be Murder by Mindy Starns Clark is the second book in the Smart Chick mystery series. Jo Tulip is getting her life back on track after the previous book. She's writing a blog, her newspaper series is up in readers, and she's sworn off men. But when her agent makes her go on a blind date to bring up readership, she stumbles into another murder mystery! Danny, her intrepid photographer best friend, tags along as she uses her quick wit and common sense to solve another unusual crime. While some characters were better fleshed out in this entry, I'm still finding it hard to buy Jo's parents: they're a bit too stereotypical. The crime in this book as well as the climax were WAY over the top this time. For such a small town, that hadn't seen a murder in over thirty years, there suddenly seems to be a proliferation of major crimes. Stuff like that stretches Clark's credibility. The book is still a fun read, and the messages about trusting in the Lord can't be beat.
Murder, Mayhem, & Mystery Aug 29, 2006
Mindy Starns Clark's Blind Dates Can Be Murder involves all three, but written in a humorous fashion that entertains on every page. I couldn't put it down. Jo Tulip and her Danny are real characters in every sense of the word. This was the first book of Clark's I've read - I'm now going back for more and can hardly wait for the third book in the "A Smart Chick Mystery Series!"
Mindy Starns Clark never leaves the reader disappointed Jun 26, 2006
If your looking for pure entertainment, this is the book to read. The story never stalls. The characters are real, likeable, humorous, down to earth, yet we can see their flaws too. I like the way Mindy allows the reader to see the story behind the "villains" behavior and weaves redemption into their lives. Excellent read! I highly recommend this book and this author.
