A Sobering Look at the Destruction Caused by Sinning Nov 23, 2005
Mike Taliaferro's books are unique. He has a unique speaking style as well as a unique writing style. I greatly enjoy his ability to take disease and use Scripture to show how Satan often uses the same attacks against the believer.
In this book, Taliaferro uses diseases found on the continent of Africa (where he ministered for several years in South Africa) and shows how they picture the destructive power of sin in the world today. He uses disease to show us that sin is worst than any bacterial disease we could ever imagine. While the stories (all true) will grip your heart with fear of bacteria and airborne diseases, the book is entended to strike fear in your heart of sinning against the Lord. Truly, sin is very destructive (Romans 6:23; 8:12-13). What we reap, we will sow (Galatians 6:7-9). The true disciple must not live a life of sin (1 John 2:7-9) lest we condemn our souls to eternal hell (Hebrews 2:1-4). Let us learn from this book and walk in the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7).
Overall I highly recommend this book. The writing is easy to read, the chapters are short but stay on the point, and you will learn much about African diseases as well as sin that dwells within your own heart as well. Jude 21.
