Item description for Why Singles are not Married & the Married are Single: Getting to the Heart of Broken Relationships by Mike Marra...
I feel it's time to retreat from the intricate study of the human mind and theoretical case studies. We need nut and bolt insight into why we're still single, divorced, or remarried again and again. Both genders of "mainstream society" are being addressed with the intention of creating a balance of spiritual and emotional responsibility between a man and a woman prior to, and after, marriage or divorce. This writing addresses the subtle ruin of the once sacred family unit. It reveals why hopeful single men or women may never get to the altar. Vast majorities of people persist in holding great optimism for love and marriage to one person, yet they seem incapable of sustaining a relationship, or they maintain the wrong type of relationship. Even though division among men and women has surfaced within dating and marriage relationships, every heart continues to anticipate everlasting love. I am personally saddened by the increasing loss of women's femininity and their God-given roles, and the effect this loss has had on society. Concurrently, I'm dismayed with the amount of passivity, lack of masculinity, and the loss of God-given roles in men. Throughout this book, we will look at some repercussions of our actions regarding the haphazard use of our innate gifts. My hope is to help each gender realize how important it is to maintain specific innate roles, and to carry them out as God designed in our current marital status. We will look at copious truths, and at a variety of subjects regarding singles, and married, or divorced couples. This book advises the reader about family, community, and God. It encounters issues ranging from commitment, roles, finances, sex, femininity, masculinity, and "socially acceptable" practices, to the recognition of spiritual battles within us.

A life changing book!!! Feb 13, 2007
Wonderfully written; enjoyful and thought provoking. Each time I read this book I discover new insights that I wish to utilize in my current and future relationships.
Yikes! Preachy to say the least. Oct 19, 2006
This book is full of religious views and dogma to understand relationships. Not exactly science here. My own fault for not looking a little closer before purchase. If your not "born again" read something else.
This book will transform your relationships! Jun 13, 2006
The subtitle says it all: this author gets to the heart of broken relationships by effectively identifying the destructive patterns that erode our marriages, our friendships, and our families. He offers practical advice, spiritual truths, and healthy solutions to heal and strengthen relationships among husbands and wives, men and women, parents, children, and individuals.
As a 40-year old, never-married single, the title grabbed my attention. I have read other relationship books but this was an extremely valuable guide in gaining some perspective from a man's point of view. I only wish I had read it when I was in my 20's!
This book is written for men and women of all ages, married, single, or divorced. It is easy and enjoyable to read with a simple, straightforward message, yet full of profound wisdom. You need to buy it and read it!
It changed my life Jun 11, 2006
A common sense book that explains why our current values and lifestyles have confused and adversly affected our children and relationships...
AWESOME BOOK Mar 1, 2006
This is a great book for anyone. It is not preachy at all. Every young adult needs to read this book. Mike is very insiteful in the gender rolls of how a man or woman is hardwired. The book provides a deeper insite to how we think differently and how our rolls are different in a relationship as a friend, a husband, wife, or in dating. This is by far the best book I have read and I wish I had this when I was growing up.
