Item description for Pancho Villa: La construccion del mito (Artes Visuales) (Spanish Edition) by Miguel Berombi...

There is another Villa besides the Pancho Villa known by history: the one named Doroteo Arango, who was born in 1878 and was the leader of the North Division during the Mexican Revolution. The other is a mythical Villa, full of complex profiles and whose genesis dates around 1913. The pages of this book show the importance of oral tradition and mass media communications of that time, such as the press and films, in the making of the myth. This book collects contradictory and fragmented information, as well as stories and colorful anecdotes that combine reality and fantasy, passed along orally from one generation to the next about what people used to say regarding Villa: his first achievements, his army, his battles, and his abuses. One of the main attractions of this volume is the images.
