Have read this numerous time! Oct 2, 2006
Wow, what a refreshing read! I stumbled upon this book at my local library and I have checked it out numerous times since then. Both characters were strong, believable and you root for them. I personally liked the spiritual side of the book. It shows that a book can have no sex but TONS of romance and still be a satisfying read. I highly recommend this book!
Loved it!!! Aug 8, 2006
It was so refreshing to read Christian fiction that was actually just that...CHRISTIAN fiction. Some "so called" Christian Fiction novels are not christian based at all. God is rarely even mention and some of them can be a bit too steamy for my taste to be called Christian Fiction. In this book, howver, the main character is a Godly woman and does not apologize for being just that. She does have some issues, but through prayer (which the author did include in the book) lead her to overcome those issues so that God could bless her. I was blown away by the fact that there were actual prayers in the book and that a lot of the book talks about each of the main characters faith and love for God. This book really spoke to my spirit.
WOW....THIS BOOK BLOW ME AWAY Jun 5, 2006
I don't know where to begin....so here goes: This book touched so many issues, sex, emotions, God, race, interracial dating and love. It shows how if we'll let the Lord direct and guide our lives we'll come out on top. The lord has a plan for all of us and we just have to seek Him and wait until He's ready to direct us and our paths. Reading this book made me look at life in a whole new light and way. I'm ready to turn and give my life to Christ...completely.
Lashonda: has a hard time moving on from past teaching, growing up with loving but racial parents. She soon learns that the Lord is in control over EVERYTHING including our feelings.
Stelson: Is everyone Boaz..you'll love him as soon as you meet him.
Peaches: Everyone has to have that one lord girlfriend...LOL...she learns that God works in so many different ways.
If I continue to go on and on...I'll probably tell the whole story. Please get the book and read it and let the Lord talk to you and your heart. You will not put this book down until the last page.
Boaz Brown, wonderful May 14, 2006
This is a great read. The plot is secondary to the characters that carry this story from start to finish. While quietly showing the ugly side of black pride Stimpson offers a read that creates an introspective atmosphere for LaShondra the main character and the reader. Although other characters bring a lot to the table her realness will be what holds readers to the end. Despite somewhat cookie cutter sub characters and a "too perfect" Boaz this is a great read. Get to your favorite online or local bookstore and pick this up you'll be glad you did. The pros definitely outweigh the cons in this book which is why I gave it the Silver rating.
What a an enjoyable read!!! Apr 10, 2006
Boaz was a joy to read from beginning to end. It was just wonderful to see Reshondra's journey from ignorance to the wonderful light of God's Word.
Ms. Stimpson wrote in such a way as not to browbeat the reader with scriptures but just enough scriptural background to let the reader know that if we confess to be Christians then we must truly try and live what the Lord commands us to do!
I recommended Boaz to my reading group and I know that this is going to be a hot, serious, lively discussion.
I am looking forward to Divas on Damacus Road!
Go Ms. Stimpson and my prayer is that God continue to inspire you with fulfilling spiritually based stories!
