Overview Jacob's Trouble: A Story of the Tribulation This is a novel that vividly describes events as they may occur during the last seven years on earth, a time known as the Tribulation. It is a novel of horror as the Seal, Trumpet, and Bowl, judgments of God, are unleashed on an unbelieving world. This is a novel of survival. With the help of his wife's parents and two close friends, he devises a plan that he hopes will allow all of them to survive until the Lord's Second Comingto live in a cave near Denver, far from the terror that man is now facing. The satanic powers of the Anti-Christ and of his false prophet are used to force men and women into accepting the mark of the beast or to be tortured and executed in ways unimaginable. This is a novel of grace and forgiveness. With the world coming to a climactic end, the forces of the Anti-Christ pursue Jacob Fredricks, and in God's grace he finds comfort. A Christian Reader's View Apr 11, 2005
What I found riveting was Mr. Pennino's ability to plot a plausible sequence of events, that would correlate to what is written in the Bible regarding the tribulation period. The book of Revelations is difficult to read and comprehend, but Mr. Pennino does a good job of relating God's Word to a scenario that is for the most part, realistic and interesting to read. I was disappointed that Mr. Pennino did not expound or speculate on the role that the United States would have during the tribulation. The ending reminded me of O. Henry, though I would have preferred a different ending. Nevertheless, the book is a very credible job for a first time author.
Solid Effort - Even if Uneven Mar 5, 2004
Overall this book is not bad. 2/3 of the book is extremely riveting and exciting while early parts of the book dragged like reading a newspaper article.
Half way through the Tribulation, the events become very graphic and plot twists start to be revealed and from then on, the book became a page turner. The breathtaking ending led into an Alfred Hitchcock-like conclusion that blew me away. Great twist, Mike !!
Stuffing the seven-year Tribulation into one relatively small novel obviously will omit key events of the period. I wish Pennino had written this as a trilogy. LaHaye and Jenkins have milked "Left Behind" for 12 books and that is a bit much. But more than one book is certainly justified.
Solid effort for what I believe is a first-time author.
A Very Good Story May 25, 2003
Jacob's Trouble is a very good story. The attack on the American Fleet in the Persian Gulf was very scary considering the events happening now in Iraq. The surprise ending did come out of nowhere, I wasn't expecting it. Not quite a 5 star work, but close. I recommend it-worth the price. I also recommend other books on end-time prophecy and tribulation such as Left Behind series of books. I just ordered Armageddon from this site.com and although Jacob's Trouble is not a series, it does hold it's own.
Great Story Apr 20, 2003
I love stories on end-time prophecy and this one kept me turning the pages. You'll never believe the ending-what a surprise. Unbelievable!!!
