Michael Masi (1939-2004) received his doctorate from Northwestern University, Chicago, Illinois, where he completed a dissertation on Anglo-Saxon sermons. His publications were largely in paleography and in literary analysis. As part of his work in philosophy and history of science, he published a translation of Boethius' De Arithmetica and Boethius and the Liberal Arts: A Collection of Essays (Peter Lang, 1981). Dr. Masi was also an avid scholar of modern languages, art, and architecture. As a professor, he taught at Loyola University in Chicago for forty years, bringing course material to life with great energy and inspiring countless young minds.
