Item description for The Master's Quilt by Michael J. Webb...
Overview Deucalion Cincinnatus Quinctus, Commander of the Garrison under Pontius Pilate, knew that disloyalty to Rome meant death. He also knew that the official report about the Christos didn't fit the facts---after all, he'd been the commanding officer at his death, burial and...disappearance. He could not deny the truth; neither could he live with it. Now he faced an uncertain road, one fraught with dread and treachery. His military prowess, always so formidable, suddenly seemed inadequate. And what would come of the sudden love he felt for the beautiful outcast Esther? The events surrounding the Christos had triggered an avalanche which threatened whole empires---the relentless guilt of Pilate, the frightening ambition of Herod Antipas, the uncertain future of Caiaphas, the violent madness of Saul of Tarsus. Yet, over it all the tenacious love of God weaves a remarkable tale of spiritual power and inspiration. This compelling historical novel brilliantly pictures the clash of opposing forces in first-century Palestine---spiritual conflicts as dramatic and real as any in the history of the world; webs of religious and political intrigue that have world powers wavering on cliff's edge.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Master's Quilt?
A Rabbinic Storyteller Jul 21, 2006
If the best stories are based upon the mortal conflict between spiritual forces of good and evil, The Master's Quilt lays out the battle plan in a rich tapestry of character and plot. Michael Webb has spent the time necesary to research and portray this fight with the integrety of a rabbinic scholar in a fast-paced novel. Those interested in reading a book steeped in knowledge of present day supernatural events linked to the dynamic early days of the New Testament church will enjoy this story.
A timeless, biblical experience; this is truly a journey well worth taking. Mar 24, 2006
I was so enthralled by this approach; by the details that were created from the mystery of well-known Bible stories. Michael Webb is truly a master storyteller, cultivating the simplest bits of information given in the Gospels into a complicated, entrancing work of art that will keep you turning the pages for hours. A definite must-read for all those who enjoy anything from historical fiction, Bible commentary, fast-paced thrillers to beautiful romance. Between the covers of this book lies a breathtaking display of a true artist at work as the stroke of his words make the story come alive.
Great story May 12, 2003
This is one of the best fiction books I have read in a while. I had a hard time putting it down. This book is very well written, and the storyline keeps you enchanted. I can't wait to read more of his books. I loved this one. I read it right around Easter, which is fitting as it takes place soon after Easter. It was a very good book, which I wholeheartedly enjoyed and recommend.
A series ahead of its time Aug 12, 1999
A must read for anyone who loves Bible history. From beginning to end the suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat. This book has it all - political intrigue, betrayal, spiritual and personal conflicts about the messiah, and oh yes, romance.
