Overview
michael graham company publication The book, "From Guru to God"- an experience of the Ultimate Truth, is a fascinating account of a twenty-eight year spiritual odyssey leading to the discovery of new life in Christ. It is the spiritual autobiography of an ardently disciplined devotee, Michael Graham. He has a fascinating and compelling journey to share that straddles four continents, spanning thirty years. Through his eyes you will be taken into the charismatic, intoxicating world of the Hindu gurus and the human potential branch of the "New Age" style spirituality. The eye of the reader is opened as they are taken on a journey beyond the veil of ordinary life into the alluring domains of alternative spiritualities; spiritualities that are rapidly proliferating throughout the West and making a deep impression on the group mind of all first world nations. This is not a ho-hum, so what who cares, take it or leave it story. Michael is distinquished as one who has rubbed shoulders with the leading gurus and teachers of our time. As he discloses he was one of the first three Western devotees of Swami Muktananda, guru to famous architect/philosopher Buckminster Fuller, and singer John Denver. However, Michael was not just involved in Muktananda's Siddha Yoga for sixteen years and a manger of his ashrams in India, Australia and USA, but spent intimate time with Bhagwwan Shree Rajneesh, (now known as Osho) of the Orange People, famous for his Oregon commune and the owning ninety-three Rolls Royce motor cars. He also spent time with Da Free John, U.G. Krishnamurti, H.W.L. Poonja and the famous female yogi saint of India, Anandamayi Ma. He encountered Sathya Sai Baba the worlds most popular guru. He roomed with Baba Ramdas (formerly Richard Alpert, partner with Timothy Leary, both of Harvard renown). He explored mind powers in Silva Mind Control, The Forum (now known as Landmark Education) and the Avatar course. Michael spent time with "New Age" luminaries like Marilyn Ferguson, author of the one-million best seller "The Aquarian Conspiracy" and was personal friends with Ingo Swann, the renowned psychic research subject with Stanford university who had the greatest strike rate of accuracy recorded, and who later worked with the CIA for twelve years developing remote viewing protocols for psychically discerning the nature and whereabouts of certain military installations behind the Iron Curtain. Also, Michael was a family friend of the renowned esoteric writer and author of the definitive work on Magic, The Golden Dawn. These names and courses are known to many of the more serious spiritual seekers of our time. And he was influenced by many written works mentioned in his book.Michael tells of his being a corporate consultant co-designing and delivering one of Australia?'s largest corporate cultural change programs (Vision 2000) and his creation of and The Decision Principle Training, which he taught worldwide in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and France.Further, Michael tells of hunting for the legendary Lasseter?'s Gold Reef in the dead heart of Australia, motorcycling through Sri Lanka and India and being trapped in Afghanistan.Above all Michael elaborates on his encounters with remarkable men and women, his spiritual practice of thousands of hours of meditation, his devotional service, study, dramatic awakenings, and remarkable spiritual experiences that follow: It all began, as he writes in his own words: One balmy afternoon, meditating on a tiger?'s skin on Muktananda?'s verandah, I was startled by the sensation of someone stroking my forehead and cheeks. I looked up and there was the master blessing me with his touch, which was claimed to yield the beginning and end for spiritual fulfillment. What followed soon after was a dramatic awakening that rendered spiritual practice spontaneous. I was hooked and in for the long haul. This was not the mere bread and butter variety of yoga and meditation commonly experienced with Indian spiritual teachers. This was dunamis, the Greek word from which we get the word dynamite. And it all ended with a most surprising conclusion after twenty-eight years of disciplined practice with India?'s most respected gurus. This account winds its way across the decades and continents and brings us to a startling and amazing mystical encounter with the divine being who made our world. This event marked the end of a search and the beginning of a journey; a journey which transformed and empowered his whole being. His thirst for authentic spirituality was realized in recognizing the supremacy and preeminence of Jesus Christ and in the change of heart and mind that came through Grace alone. From that explosive moment Michael walked in a new direction, a spiritual discipline filled with renewal and thanksgiving. Having had a broad and deep experiential penetration of the Old Age movement out of India, the pragmatic world of corporate consulting, and New Age post modern thinking, (along with their attendant mind dynamic programs), Michael speaks with some authority.Written in a lucid style, this autobiography of a former yogi will astonish. You are in for a reader?'s feast, with many courses on the menu to digest and meditate on. As you read you may laugh a little, be dazzled at times, and even feel your feathers ruffled by some of the things Michael shares. You would expect nothing less than this from one who has trekked through so many spiritual disciplines. This is not just a spiritual traveloque of a lone pilgrim. There is an invitation to a banquet with God who beckons us with love to taste and see.(Notes referring to Michael Graham from independent written sources can be found at the rear of the book).

Reviews - What do customers think about From Guru to God: An Experience of the Ultimate Truth?

A fascinating journey of consciousness   Apr 28, 2008
This book documents the fascinating experiments in consciousness expansion undertaken by an Australian, Michael Graham, over three decades. Unlike many spiritual seekers in the 1960s, Graham's quest was not birthed out of dissatisfaction with Western culture and religion, or from the psychedelic scene that was to send many of his generation eastward. Rather, an innate mystical giftedness combined with a keen intellect, put him on the path at a young age. As a teenager, without doing anything to induce it, nor having a philosophical background to conceptualize it, Graham had a mystical encounter in which he experienced the oneness of the universe (non-duality, which in India is most often associated with Advaita Vedanta).

The ensuing hunger and curiosity soon put Graham on a trail that would lead to the ashram of the Indian super-guru Muktananda (1908-1982). Being naturally adept, Graham became one of Muktananda's prized pupils, mastering both the precepts and practices of siddha yoga. He soon found himself in the guru's inner circle, in a fascinating relationship that would continue until the master's death, nearly three decades later. After Muktananda's demise, Graham went on to explore various mind-expanding new age psycho-technologies, even developing a successful seminar curriculum.

As Graham recounts his decades-long journey, he never speaks of becoming disgruntled or disappointed either with Muktananda and siddha yoga, or with the other teachers and techniques he encountered along the way. Nevertheless, in the 1990s, Graham's life was suddenly and radically altered. And--reminiscent of his first experience--the change came through an unexpected mystical encounter, but this time an encounter of a very different nature.

Anyone interested in mystical states of consciousness, the guru movement of the 1970s, or new age spirituality will find The Experience of Ultimate Truth to be a fascinating read.
